Description
CME Group is currently looking for an Economics Department summer intern.

This candidate will assist the Manager of Data Science with data analysis relating to futures and options market activity as well as support of thought leadership activities of the Economics team. Tasks will include retrieving economic data from the Internet through API and web scraping, creating animated and interactive data visualization with R, Python and Excel, building standalone web-based analytical solution tools with R or Python, and assisting the Economics department on content creation.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Data acquisition through API and web scraping.
  • Data visualization using R, Python and Excel.
  • Develop light weighted web apps for data retrieval and analysis.
  • Make presentation to the Chief Economist and other senior management.

Skills / Software Requirements:
  • Strong skill in a script language (R, Python, etc.).
  • Experience with Linux and Command Lines.
  • Proficient in SQL and Excel.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Experience with cloud services (GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.) is preferred but not required.

Education:
  • Currently pursuing a master's degree in a quantitative field such as Math/Statistics/Data Science/Financial Engineering etc.
  • Economics background is strongly recommended.

Internship Duration:
  • 8 weeks

Timing:
  • Start date is flexible, based on the applicant's school calendar.
