Job Description:

This position performs a variety of diagnostic cardiac/vascular exams under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.

Sign on Bonus: up to $2500.00 for eligible applicants

Shift : Full Time- 40 hrs/week- 6:30am-5:00pm Monday- Friday (no weekends or holidays)

Location: Vascular & Vein Department- Cedar City Hospital may float to St George Hospital

Job Essentials

Echo and/or Vascular Competency:
Echo (Supervisory skills pass off to include a minimum 100); Adult congenital, Fetal, Pediatric
Vascular (Supervisory skills pass off to include a minimum 25); TCD, Arterial scans, Renal/SMA

Prioritizes and schedules exams. Coordinates exams with medical staff, physician offices, other caregivers and patients.

Prepares for the exam by follow patient identification processes, educating patient and family on procedure, and transporting the patient. Performs ultrasound exams consistent with related protocols and in a timely manner. Ensures patient safety and comfort and achieves quality outcomes.

After the exam, returns patient to room and ensures patient stability and safety.

Throughout process, identifies patient needs and appropriately communicates and coordinates patient care with physician, other caregivers, patient, and family.

Appropriately documents exam results and other needed information. Accurately charges for exams and supplies.

Cleans and maintains equipment and work area and stocks supplies. Follows appropriate channels to coordinate repair or supply needs. Supports team and quality improvement processes and initiatives.

Participates in educational opportunities to ensure clinical competence and develop additional skills and knowledge. Provides education for other caregivers, fellows, and students as appropriate.

Mentor caregivers and students on specialized equipment use and procedural technique.

Assist in development of education and orientation materials.

Active participant in department meetings and CV conferences.

Minimum Qualifications

ARDMS, ARRT or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography.

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers

Must achieve each of the following areas -

Certification / Registry
Obtain any two of the national registry credential(s) through ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI as applicable to the department. Multiple registries available within each specialty.
Vascular technology
Adult echo
Adult congenital echo
Pedi

Obtain a minimum of one registry with the following years of service:

Competency (participate in any of the following)
Echo (Supervisory skills pass off to include a minimum 100)
Adult congenital
Fetal
Pediatric
Vascular (Supervisory skills pass off to include a minimum 25)
TCD

Renal/SMA

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
