Reports to: Principal Purpose: A Behavior Management Technician (BMT) is a paraprofessional who practices under the close, ongoing supervision of the school administration, counselor and district Behavior Specialists. Qualifications: Associates Degree (psychology, human services, or related field) OR Experience working with children with challenging behaviors OR Bachelor Degree (psychology, human services, or related field) preferred Key Duties and Responsibilities: The BT is primarily responsible for teacher follow-up training and support of behavior interventions and documentation. The BT supports teacher in the process of identifying appropriate interventions, designing intervention plans, Functional Behavior Analyses and Behavior Intervention plans. This position would involve participating in the MTSS/SAT process. The BT also works closely with the school counselor and school social worker to ensure that any necessary agencies are being utilized to meet student needs. Make necessary contacts to begin crisis intervention services for students, provide crisis intervention services and/or supervision of students, as needed Assist in developing interventions, functional behavior assessments and behavior plans for the purpose of providing a safe and effective educational environment for students with challenging behaviors Provide social skills training for students Participate and function as a positive team member for the purpose of enhancing and sharing knowledge and skills for implementation of best practices Generate and maintain reports in appropriate student records for the purpose of monitoring the progress of behavior intervention services ABA training or experience preferred Must have or be willing to obtain CPI De-Escalation and Restraint Training Performs other duties as assigned. Collaborate with school personnel to design a meditative, reflective program to support school-wide expectations and practices. Term of Employment: 10 month employment, Pay grade D
