Floyd County Head Start is looking to add a loving and supportive teacher to our Early Head Start program. Our EHS teachers work together as a co-teaching team to engage their infant/toddler students (ages 1-3 years old) in fun, play-based learning to achieve our School Readiness Goals. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Engage and challenge children through a variety of learning experiences. Collaborate with co-teacher to develop and implement goals and objectives. Provide input to planning and implementing activities. Use children interests to drive the curriculum. Establish a safe and healthy environment to support the development of each child. Implement effective classroom management strategies. Participate in assessing children to show measurable progress in all developmental domains. Administer age appropriate developmental screenings. Keep timely documentation and record keeping as required by all applicable regulations. Participate in 2 home visits and family teacher conferences per school year. Utilize agency software to input data and generate reports used for tracking and follow-up. Collaborate with all departments to maximize resources. QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES): High School Diploma or GED required, CDA, Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred. CDA required within 1 year of employment (if no degree), agency pays for classes and materials needed to complete Must be physically and emotionally able to work with young children. Ability to communicate with children, parents, and other professionals. Ability to safely, and physically transport a child (0-5 years old); vision and hearing adequate to supervise children in the classroom area and on the playground; ability to be at child's eye level. Computer skills sufficient to use online program to enter data, and to guide children in use of classroom technology. Willingness to complete pre-employment background check including federal fingerprints, physical, drug test, and TB test as required by all applicable regulations. SCHEDULE: Monday-Thursday 7:30AM-4:30PM Must work 36 hours but are paid for 40, other 4 hours can be utilized on Fridays for catch-up Some Fridays are required (4 hours only) through out the school year for In-Service and Training times, all dates are provided up front. 49 weeks per year paid (1 week in October, 1 week in December, and 1 week in July off and unpaid) PTO accrued monthly Health, Dental and Vision insurance Life Insurance (Agency paid) Paid professional development Tuition assistance
