Job Title: Early Childhood Preschool Support Assistant II (Part Time) Reports To: Rian Hood, Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator Position Description: The Preschool Support Assistant will help support classrooms of children who are between the ages of 2-5 years old. Preschool Assistants must have a minimum of a high school diploma, and at least 1 year experience working in the early childhood or child development field. They must be passionate about working with young children, have good communication skills and enjoy collaboration with other team members. An assistant must be patient and empathetic towards children from diverse social backgrounds and with a wide range of learning abilities. After school care responsibilities include caring for children in a childcare setting after preschool hours. Wages: Starting at $15.00 - $16.50 per hour DOE Specific Job Responsibilities: Early Childhood Preschool After Care Support II provides enriching, exciting and engaging after school care for our preschool children until 5pm on all school days. The ideal applicant loves working with children and has experience and knowledge of child development and group management. They must have a positive attitude and is able to be a supportive, well-regulated person for the children they are caring for. They must be able to support the lead teachers while maintaining a clean and safe environment for children enrolled in the program. They must be able to supervise up to 10 children in both large and small group settings while assisting in serving snacks/meals and performing various other duties as assigned by the program coordinator or lead teacher while maintaining confidentiality regarding children, families and coworkers. They must have the ability to be on the floor at the child's level while implementing a daily schedule with activities while supervising and building positive relationships with the entire team. They must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and students and have initiative and feel comfortable solving problems independently. The ideal candidate will enjoy playing and creating with children. Required Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or 1 year experience working with young children 2. Must be able to obtain CPR, Food Handler Card, ICCHS, RRCAN, Foundations to Learning- Access to these trainings will be provided upon acceptance of job. Majority of trainings are online and self paced, however, must be completed prior to first day of work. 3. Bilingual applicants desired, not required 4.
