Position Details Position Information Position Title DVTC Clinical Technician - Small Animal Department DeBusk Vet Teaching Center Position Category Staff Full Time Job Description The Technician-Small Animal works within the scope of practice for the Veterinary Technician as described by the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as the guidelines of OSHA and USDA. This person will work closely with students and designated faculty and will assist in the supervision of labs and clinical activities for assigned courses under the direction of designated faculty. This person will be required to aid in set up of labs, properly clean, inventory, replace equipment, and teach in clinical skills labs where appropriate under the supervision of a veterinarian. Required Qualifications Minimum of A.S. or A.A.S. in Veterinary Medical Technology; currently holds, or eligible to hold a valid veterinary technician license in the Commonwealth of Virginia state Preferred Qualifications Minimum of two years of clinical experience in various settings; minimum of one year being an instructor in an associate degree level veterinary technology program or veterinary medical college Physical Demands Campus Virginia Job Duty Job Duty Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large; Job Duty contribute to the overall success of the academic team and the university of the whole; Job Duty collaborate and foster working relationships with peers, other colleges on campus, and external partners and stakeholders to attain the college s and university s goals and objectives; Job Duty participate on university committees; Job Duty assist the designated faculty to provide clinical and lab experiences for students in an efficient, professional, and authoritative manner; Job Duty initiate supply requests Job Duty liaise with site coordinator for facility request as directed Job Duty assist in the education of the student under the direction of designated faculty while the student learns the veterinary medical clinical skills process as he/she acquires knowledge, understanding, and the entry-level skills required of veterinarians; Job Duty maintain records and evaluations of the students for the activities during the clinical experiences; Job Duty ensure that all OSHA and USDA guidelines are implemented in student clinical student activities, Job Duty oversee medical records of animals that are used in teaching; Job Duty comply with all IACUC guidelines; Job Duty work within the scope and guidelines of SACS and AVMA accrediting bodies; Job Duty assist in the supervision of lab and clinical activities for assigned courses and educational activities; Job Duty organize resources including faculty, animals, student groups, equipment for laboratory, and consumables for laboratories; and Job Duty other duties as assigned.
