Job Type Contract Description Primary Location: Perry, GA Must be a U.S Citizen Security Clearance: Secret This position is contingent on Contract Award Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a Driving Instructor to join the team. Assist in designing, developing, and continually refining training curricula for tactical mobility, encompassing both on-road and off-road driving techniques. Tailor training programs to the specific needs and operational requirements of military and law enforcement units, incorporating best practices, industry standards, and lessons learned from real-world scenarios. Conduct classroom lectures, practical demonstrations, and hands-on exercises to impart knowledge and skills related to tactical vehicle operations. Cover topics such as vehicle dynamics, terrain analysis, navigation, obstacle negotiation, convoy procedures, and defensive driving tactics.
Provide instruction on the characteristics, capabilities, and limitations of various types of tactical vehicles commonly used in military and law enforcement operations. Ensure trainees are familiar with vehicle systems, controls, and emergency procedures, and maintenance.
Maintain an instructor training binder with approved personalized course materials to be utilized during instruction.
Teach advanced driving techniques for on-road operations, including defensive driving maneuvers, evasive driving tactics, high-speed driving, and vehicle convoy procedures. Emphasize situational awareness, risk assessment, and effective communication among drivers and passengers.
Train personnel in off-road driving techniques necessary for navigating challenging terrain, such as dirt roads, gravel paths, sand dunes, mud, snow, and rocky terrain. Cover topics such as traction management, vehicle recovery, hill ascent/descent, and water crossing procedures.
Train personnel in vehicle recovery techniques using winches, tow straps, and other recovery equipment.
Promote a culture of safety consciousness and risk awareness among trainees, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety protocols, wearing protective gear, and maintaining situational awareness at all times.
Requirements Instructors are considered highly qualified if they possess experience as an operator within a SOF Special Missions Units.
Six (6) years of experience within USSOCOM/USASOC/Marine Force Recon/NavSpecWar as an NCO, SNCO/CPO or Officer with multiple successful tours
Previous experience as a military instructor or trainer, with a demonstrated ability to effectively convey complex concepts and skills to others.
Extensive experience as a professional driver, driving instructor, or tactical mobility specialist in military, law enforcement, or security settings.
Expertise in vehicle dynamics, defensive driving techniques, off-road driving skills, and tactical vehicle operations.
Graduate of International Training, Inc. (ITI), Gryphon Group, Tier One Off-road or Tony Scott's Vehicle Dynamics Institute (VDI) tactical driving courses, or equivalent. Current driver's license, preferably with endorsements for operating commercial vehicles or specialized military vehicles.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor trainees.
Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to lead and mentor trainees, manage training resources, and enforce safety protocols.
Possess valid CPR certification and maintain the certification annually.
Familiarity with High-Risk Screening/Training requirements.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate training schedules and operational requirements.
Willingness to travel and participate in training events at various locations.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment Physical ability must be ABOVE AVERAGE.
Duties require moderate to heavy physical exertion - such as long periods standing, walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces - requiring bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, or similar activities in all types of weather conditions ranging from very hot (110 F summer) to very cold (30 F winter) while wearing small arms Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (e.g., NIJ Level III body armor with ballistic helmet).
Work requires lifting of items up to 50 lbs., such as tools, small arm weapons and inert ordnance items. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as average agility and dexterity. Individuals cannot have seizure disorders, abnormal and uncorrectable near vision, be colorblind, or have substantial hearing loss (hearing aid is acceptable).
Instructors must be able to keep up with running students on a dynamic shooting range. Must pass the U.S. Navy Physical Fitness Assessment (excluding body fat composition portion) for your applicable age bracket with a minimum overall score of GOOD as outlined in OPNAVINST 6110.1 Series and demonstrate their ability to drag/carry a 185 pound training dummy a distance of 50 meters.
