Join our Transportation team as a Driver A. The Driver A's responsibility is to deliver food and exceptional customer service to our partners, safe and timely pick up of donated product from local donors and demonstrate behavior consistent with SHH's Vision and Values.

Starting Pay Range: $24 - $27 USD hourly / Dependent on Qualifications and Experience.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-Time, 40 hours / week /
  • Work schedule: Monday through Thursday, 4 x 10 work schedule.
    • 5:30am start time
  • Location: On-site, Brooklyn Park, MN

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow all DOT and company regulations as they relate to company vehicles and general safety.
  • Deliver orders to member agencies and provide excellent customer service by unloading orders, answering questions, making on-time deliveries, or notifying agencies when late.
  • Confirm products received by member agencies are correct, invoices adjusted as needed and signed by agency personnel.
  • Pick up donations from donors. Confirm donations are received accurately before signing documents.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspection; notify Transportation Coordinator of vehicle maintenance needs. Maintain a clean and orderly cab and cargo area.
  • Load and unload truck cargo in a safe and timely manner
  • Maintain positive employee relations with internal and external customers.
  • Perform warehouse duties including filling orders and maintaining warehouse as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the food bank.
  • Follow safety regulations relating to OSHA or other company-related regulations.
  • Handle food safely and complete food safety training within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Maintain Food Safety Certification.
  • Inspect product to be donated following food safety guidelines and refuse donations if the quality is poor.
  • Submit Annual Motor Vehicle Report
  • Notify any violations to Transportation Coordinator and/or Director of Transportation
  • Receive cross-training in Food Rescue Fleet process to support when needed
  • Perform various tasks and duties in warehouse as requested by manager and team

Must Have:

  • All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • Forklift and pallet jack skills
  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor.
  • Tact and diplomacy when working with customers and donors
  • Good communications skills when working with warehouse staff and donors
  • able to follow both written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Class A license with trailer and air brake endorsements
  • Must pass commercial driver's physical and participate in random drug screening tests per state and federal regulations and company policies and safe food handling certification (employer paid training).
