Duties You will periodically patrol the installation for stray, abandoned or neglected animals to transport them to the local County Animal Shelter. You will investigate reports of animal bites or aggression; isolating and detaining the animal until appropriate action can be taken. You will take statements from victims or witnesses to document incidents. You will respond, investigate, and document reports of animal abuse or neglect. You will administer the Installations and Environment Department's Feral Trapping Program for cats and dogs. You will evaluate animals for suspected medical conditions and ensure a safe and clean-living condition. You will provide information to residents of Installation Housing regarding privileges to own a pet and inform them of responsibilities to provide proper animal care and safety. You will be required to efficiently operate requisite computer systems, and input data into software systems including spreadsheet and database formats in order to manipulate and retrieve data for needed reports, statistics, and others. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator license. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You will be required to complete yearly physical examinations. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. You must be 18 years of age. You must pass a written deadly force test prior to being issued Oleoresin Capsicum (OC Spray). The position requires rotating shift work. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. You will be subject to call back and may be required to carry an electronic device for call back. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing expertise in clerical and administrative support duties. Specialized experience must include performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Handling, controlling and transporting stray, wild, domestic, abandoned, neglected, and/or abused animals; 2) Recognizing observable signs of illness (including rabies), common diseases, discontent, and general physical conditions of animals; and 3) Entering, manipulating, and retrieving data for needed reports and statistics. Education In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite; or A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
