In this vital role as a member of the Global Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DI&B) team, you will contribute directly to the realization of Amgens DI&B strategic framework which includes priorities focused on people, culture, community, and sustainability. The Senior Manager role reports to the DI&B Senior Director and will drive DI&B Talent, Culture and Community strategies to foster a culture of belonging and help create an equitable environment throughout Amgen inclusive of supporting skills-first hiring expansion strategies, managing cohesive internal and external stakeholder partnerships and creating a connected, inclusive and inspiring work environment that empowers talent to thrive.

The Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Senior Manager will also lead projects to support alignment of DI&B efforts with health equity strategies to best serve our patients and reduce inequities globally.

Key Responsibilities: Direct implementation of identified DI&B strategies and project tactics to ensure progress toward annual goals:
  • Serve as a key implementation lead for enterprise-wide DI&B programs and projects aligned with talent, culture and community strategic priorities inclusive of skills-first hiring change management work, DI&B communications projects, external partnership management, DI&B people analytics and health equity activities.
  • Establish sustainable working relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally to support projects to enhance Amgens inclusive and productive work environment and promote equity for Amgen patients (e.g. global DI&B communications process and content assessment, talent analytics support, and health equity partnership assessment).
Lead identified projects to enhance alignment across DI&B talent, culture and community strategies and solidify cohesion of multiple concurrent workstreams:
  • Oversee the implementation of project plans, risk management plans, project governance processes, tracking DI&B strategy alignment, recordkeeping for DI&B pillar tactics, and identify practice improvements.
  • Partner with the Core DI&B leadership team and direct the supervision of cross-functional project teams to manage alignment of a broad range of internal and external stakeholder relationships, engaging in external partnerships that expand our DI&B culture and community efforts.
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop and manage a streamlined DI&B communications planning process to ensure communications alignment and efficient management for current and long-term use including assistance with monitoring DI&B communications tools.
  • Develop streamlined processes, simplify resources, and communicate with critical DI&B partners and collaborators updates that impact engagement or sustainment of resources.
Manage data and metrics in partnership with data analytics teams to effectively track strategy progress and inform DI&B strategy development, assessment, and enhancements:
  • Partner with the data analytics team to measure and monitor business goals by collecting and evaluating metrics to ensure the effectiveness of DI&B strategies as set by the DI&B leadership team and key stakeholders.
  • Support the DI&B dashboard project to maintain alignment across functions and key stakeholder groups.
Demonstrate use of DI&B competencies to model, coach, and educate Amgen colleagues while delivering outcomes:
  • Develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with multiple areas across the enterprise to inform work and standardization processes to embed DI&B in business practices that establish ongoing leadership accountability.
  • Lead cross-functional change management efforts to effectively implement DI&B projects to meet critical objectives including the functional DI&B teams, TA, HRBPs and other key stakeholders on critical DI&B projects and programs.
  • Plan and facilitate meetings, workshops, and events to inform, educate and advance talent, culture and community strategies.
  • Assist with monitoring specific enterprise DI&B team communications tools (e.g. email inboxes and MS Team channels) to answer broader initiative questions, provide information and/or resolve issues.
Support DI&B Core Team operations to effectively meet enterprise goals and objectives:
  • Collaborate with the Core DI&B team members to deliver outcomes toward annual strategic goals and objectives.
  • Support Global DI&B Leadership team with resource tools and activities associated with prioritized projects, establish project goals, manage timelines and performance metrics.
Knowledge / Skills
  • Self-starter with strong knowledge of Amgens DI&B efforts or strong knowledge of DI&B principles within healthcare or biotechnology industries.
  • Ability to lead projects from concept to completion and exhibit resilience when faced with setbacks and challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), including the ability to engage with Amgen senior management reliably and confidentially.
  • Experience conducting needs analysis across broad stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to effectively lead through ambiguity, collaborate, and influence cross-functional teams and partners.
  • Proficiency in using work empowered tools (e.g., Miro, MS Teams, Smartsheet).

Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree and 2 years of Diversity & Inclusion experience, Human Resources, and Project/Program Management

Bachelors degree & 6 years of Diversity & Inclusion experience, Human Resources, and Project/Program Management

Or
Associates degree & 10 years of Diversity & Inclusion experience, Human Resources, and Project/Program Management

Or
High school diploma / GED & 12 years of Diversity & Inclusion experience, Human Resources, and Project/Program Management

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Competency in employee engagement strategy development and execution within an ERG, DI&B council and/or functional organization.
  • Ability to understand, balance, and articulate both tactical and long-term planning opportunities inclusive of budget management experience.
  • Experience working as a change agent, ability to develop relationships at all levels of the organization, including senior management, lead and influence (with and without direct authority).
  • Self-directed, willing to take informed risks with the ability to prioritize, navigate a fast-paced environment, balance multiple priorities and competing demands.
  • A strong conviction for efficiency, ingenuity, and impact over activity with an ability to see relationships among different projects and initiatives and drive existing connections among them to ensure a more impactful outcome.
  • Strong facilitation skills and ability to lead a room through meaningful discussion and willingness to speak up and respectfully challenge previous processes to drive continuous change.
  • Fluent in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and ability to build visuals and decks that will positively represent projects and programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of how to use data to inform program and process design to tell a story or inform DI&B decisions and change management approaches.
  • Some travel may be required.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
