Qualifications. The Specialist shall hold a valid Arizona teaching certificate and at least a master's degree from an approved institution. They shall have at least three years of successful teaching experience. Preference will be given to those holding a reading endorsement and having coaching experience. The Superintendent may alter any of the above requirements. Line of Authority. The Specialist shall be directly responsible to the Academic Director Team(or designee). The Academic Director Team (or designee) will be responsible for any required evaluations. Performance Responsibilities. The Specialist shall have performance responsibilities in the following areas: Student Achievement Support: Work closely with administrators, teachers, and staff members in a supportive, collegial team atmosphere. Support schools with the implementation of their Integrated Action Plan throughout the school year. Provide vision and leadership to support District teachers and staff in areas such as innovative and collaborative technology use, problem-based and inquiry-based learning, and research-based instructional strategies. Develop plans for the implementation of digital learning initiatives driven by the District's strategic plan, Arizona Educational Technology Standards, and Arizona Computer Science Standards. Guide the district in the development and implementation of MTSS models and frameworks at school sites Provide vision and leadership to support student achievement and effective services by identifying best practices, developing and implementing strategic improvement plans, determining professional development areas, and interfacing EL programs with district goals and initiatives Provide leadership in the development of EL professional growth opportunities for teachers and administrators, ensuring that those opportunities are aligned with District goals and expectations Provide technical assistance to teachers related to second-language instruction and in the use of English Language Assessment data to drive instructional decisions. Coordinate and deliver district-wide EL family nights Assist teachers, including collaboration, observation, and modeling, and providing professional development as needed, to demonstrate effective differentiation of instruction while supporting the instructional needs of gifted and twice-exceptional students. Coordinate CogAT testing and scoring for district students at least twice per school year. Coordinate teacher induction and mentoring of teachers new to the district With guidance and support, train staff as needed in SEL Programs including but not limited to PBIS, Leader in Me, 7 Mindsets, Restorative Practices, MindUp, etc. Demonstrate knowledge of district programs (curricular, supplemental, and intervention). Develop and employ a system to document coaching activities, teacher growth, student growth, programs, etc. to be used for evaluation of effectiveness. Identify, recommend, and provide professional development designed to meet the in-service needs of staff members based on data. Provide coaching to staff in an expert coaching model. Provide technical assistance in assessments, progress monitoring, and the use of data. Provide technical assistance with digital instructional programs, including but not limited to rostering, usage data, and impact reports. Based on needs determined by a review of student data, review and recommend textbooks, programs, and other instructional materials to the Director of Teaching and Learning for consideration. Support the professional development program by developing, facilitating, and /or participating in professional development activities with support topics including, but not limited to, instruction, implementation of programs, instructional leadership, classroom management, and technology. Support curriculum planning, development, and implementation. Support the coordination of the educational program, ensuring continuity and alignment with all Arizona Standards in kindergarten through eighth grade. Attend to the needs of the District's student population by making recommendations for additions and changes in systemic practices based on sound reasonable decision-making models (i.e. professional development needs, curricular programming, assessments, etc.) Perform any other duties as directed by the supervising Director or designee. Human Relations: Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. Develop and maintain rapport with all interested parties, including administration, staff, parents, and the community, concerning the Districts' educational programming and support. Equipment, Aids, Tools, Materials: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic application software (i.e. MS Office Suite -Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Use office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, and copiers. Other Duties. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervising Director and Superintendent may assign.
