Job description:

Dispatcher at our client in Middletown, PA. As a Dispatcher, you will play a critical role in coordinating and optimizing the transportation of goods, ensuring timely delivery and maximum efficiency. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Essential Functions
Develop efficient and cost-effective transportation routes for truck drivers based on delivery requirements, traffic conditions, and vehicle capacities with a transportation management system
Assign drivers to routes and loads, ensuring that all deliveries are scheduled and completed on time
Maintain communication with drivers throughout their routes to provide updates and address any issues that may arise
Coordinate the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring that cargo is properly secured and meets all safety regulations
Monitor load weights and dimensions to maximize truck capacity and minimize transportation costs
Work with the customer service team to provide updates on shipment status, addressing inquiries and concerns, and resolving any delivery issues in a timely manner
Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, including hours-of-service requirements
Maintain accurate records of driver logs, vehicle inspections, and other compliance documents
Monitor driver performance and productivity, tracking key metrics such as on-time delivery, fuel efficiency, and vehicle maintenance
Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize performance
Collaborate with other members of the logistics team, including dispatchers, drivers, and warehouse staff, to ensure seamless coordination of transportation operations and meet overall company objectives
Perform other tasks as required

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience
Proven experience as a trucking dispatcher or in a similar logistics role

General Requirements
Deep understanding of transportation logistics and regulations, including route planning, load optimization, and regulatory compliance
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with drivers, customers, and team members
Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to quickly assess situations and implement effective solutions
Proficiency in transportation management software and tools, with the ability to learn new systems as needed
Familiarity with industry regulations and best practices, including DOT regulations and safety protocols
