In this role, you will be responsible for building and leading teams in the development and implementation of small to large-scale, strategic initiatives and enhancements on the advisory platform. This includes leading core components and deliverables for the strategic development to the successful implementation of new advisory program.

Key Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate core competencies include but not are limited to:
    o Influence, lead and build collaboration across cross-organizational teams (e.g. internal stakeholders, Technology, Service and Operations, Advisor Groups, Marketing, Field Implementation, Finance, Legal/Compliance as well as outside partners and vendors), directing deliverables ranging from new products and investments, to additional services and tool offerings that drive an excellent advisory/client experience, allowing growth in assets and revenue within a compliant foundation.
    o Protect and increase the revenue earned across the advisory platform by develop /enhancing and new programs and features that support firm ROA
    o Lead investment product efforts that support increases in advisor acquisition, broadens advisor usage and grows clients
    o Supports the development of the Advisor Client Experience across the advisory platform
    o Tracks industry trends for continual advancement and competitiveness
    o Thought-leader driving strategy initiatives through implementation
    o Seeks and drives continuous innovation aligned with the project strategy / roadmap
    o Demonstrated experience in building, developing and leading a team
    o Self-motivated, tracking details, highlight accountable
    o Managing Investment Optimization (I/O) funding requests for small to large initiatives.

  • This role will work collaboratively across WMS and the enterprise with areas like Product Management, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Compliance and Operations to craft the concept, assess all the recommendations, and influence leaders to have the concept funded before transitioning it to Product Development teams for execution.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Direct leadership and cross-organizational influencer developing and implementing new and/or enhanced advisory platform capability.
  • Manage Investment Optimization (I/O) multi-year enhancement agendas.
  • Internal relationship management as point of contact for technology, Service and Operations, Advice and Wealth Management and Service project management groups for all IRB and funding process.
  • Will work closely with advisory business development, platform management and risk management to support emerging development and enhancement needs.
  • Provide leadership, performance management and improvement feedback, coaching, mentoring and development of employee direct reports.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience in financial services industry, focused specifically on product development and/or management.
  • 5+ years' experience in leading large and complex managed projects with heavy technology spend. Strong attention to detail to ensure deadlines are met and work product is accurate.
  • 3+ years' experience people leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Investments, Finance, Accounting or other related degree, or related experience
  • Active series 7 required or ability to obtain within 120 days of hire.


Preferred Qualification

  • Knowledge and/or experience with the Ameriprise channel and/or product offerings.
  • Excellent understanding of various facets of the Ameriprise organization; including insight into various business units and the Field organization.
  • Understanding of competitive trends and how they may influence direction within Ameriprise
  • Strong knowledge of Advisory platforms and solutions.
  • Excellent understanding of regulations and laws that impact Advisory platforms.
  • Strong relationship and collaboration, communications and influencing skills.
  • Articulate, must be able to connect points of interest/stakeholders across multiple, complex topics, relative subject matters in order to convey implications/outcomes to Sr. leadership in a simple and direct manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively with business partners.
  • Recognized skills in diplomacy and the ability to collaborate across a highly matrixed organization with diverse goals. Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Highly developed critically thinking skills with common sense approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work with advisors related to understanding their practice, accumulating feedback, addressing concerns
