Overview
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a premier provider to the US Department of Defense and allied nations, is seeking a Director of Operations to join our San Diego, California team.
The Director of Operations position h as overall responsibility for a single manufacturing facility. Directs all aspects of production activity at the assigned plant to ensure that the desired quantities and quality of products are manufactured on schedule in a safe manner at minimum cost and may be responsible for Accounting, Human Resources and other staff functions.
The Director of Operations should have experience in manufacturing management within a fast-paced assembly/production line, with direct supervision of production line employees.
The Director of Operations must have excellent leadership, facilitation, communication, interpersonal managing skills, and solid orgaizational/planning skills.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities. Works primarilly in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are preferred.
Responsibilities- Directs manufacturing operations and management teams for plants and locations of an organization that support business goals.
- Incorporates the organizational strategy and plans for operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs in manufacturing processes.
- Monitors production metrics and recommends process improvements, new technologies , and methods to maximize operational efficiency.
- Drives workforce planning activities and a pproves/ allocates resources based on business priorities.
- Implements long-term plans for facilities, equipment, materials, technology, and workforce resources to maintain manufacturing capacity and processes.
- Leads and directs the work of other managers and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers.
Qualifications- Required Education: Associate's Degree or Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
- 8 - 10 years experience in a relevant function
