The Center for the Management, Utilization and Protection of Water Resources (the Water Center) at Tennessee Tech University is seeking an outstanding scholar-leader to fill its Director position. The Director will provide leadership for the Center's research, education, and outreach activities; direct and expand Center laboratory services; and manage the Center staff and budget. The Director will be expected to work with core faculty members to increase extramurally funded research. In addition to leading the center, the Director is encouraged to carry on their own research, independently or collaboratively. It is expected that the Director will have achieved the equivalent of the rank of Full Professor, and will have the potential to be hired with tenure in an academic department suited to the expertise of the Director. The Water Center was established in 1984 as a response to regional and national concern about environmental and water-resource related issues. Since its inception, the Center has continuously received base funding from the State of Tennessee, which is leveraged by Center researchers to address regional, national and global issues related to water resources. Collaborations have involved faculty and students across campus in various colleges and schools with work related to watershed management, hydrology, water quality, emerging contaminants, aquatic ecology, fisheries, biodiversity, and water and wastewater treatment. The Center also houses a large, permanently staffed state-certified environmental water quality lab that provides both commercial revenue and research support. More information about the Center's mission and vision, as well as current research projects can be found at
