Job Title: Director of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality
Location: Bowling Green, KY


Implementation and oversight of integrated ISO management system including 9001, 14001 and 25000 and 45001.
Lead the improvement, development, and implementation of Plant SHEQ work processes and systems. Provide expertise in work process development (the what, why, and how).
Maintain excellence and high standards in SHEQ work processes, systems, and results within the plant.
o Deliver against agreed company metrics and capability goals.
o Manage SHEQ budget and Capital spending. Deliver against budget and productivity improvement goals.

• Influence and lead the development of the plant SHEQ culture. Influential leader on the plant leadership team.

• Role model collaboration, critical thinking/decision making, and root cause problem solving within the leadership team.

• Ensure SHEQ organization is good partner with the plant and supportive of plant goals and objectives.

• Provide leadership as needed on Plant committees (e.g., Safety, Hygiene, HPS etc.)

• Establishment of and improvement against key SHEQ site KPIs, ensuring that performance is communicated and results are improved sitewide.
The standard bearer for GMP and Hygiene standards across the site.

• Develop and maintain capability within the plant to successfully host external audits by customers, 3rd party audit companies, and regulatory agencies avoiding any disruption to the business.
o Establish and maintain audit readiness at the plant level (if applicable)
o Host customer and external agency audits and issue audit notes.
o Ensure improvements identified during audits are implemented and audit rating is maintained at an acceptable level.

• Oversight of site Process Safety Management (PSM) management program.

• Provide technical assistance to R&D, Purchasing, Engineering and Manufacturing departments for new initiatives.

• Oversee analysis/problem solving of issues to define root cause and implement effective corrective actions.

• Notify appropriate personnel regarding product defects as applicable to formula design, packaging design, etc. Provide both proactive and reactive input on potential or existing problems to resolve issues.

• Communicate with Sales Department regarding customer quality issues, customer new items, customer initial production sample requests, and any other issues related to quality and customer requests

• Ensure Hygiene capability is developed and maintained within the plant - working closely with plant hygienist.

• Responsible for plant SHEQ goal setting, deployment, and ensuring a link from each staff member to goals of the plant and of the organization.

• Leverages environmental best practices and manages all related regulatory and compliance issues

• Responsible for sustainability roadmap to drive Energy, Water and Waste improvement.

The Plant Director of SHE-Q position is responsible for all aspects of Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality and Sustainability for the Bowling Green Plant. The role leads the Plant and Logistics Warehouse in the building and enabling of SHEQ culture development. The SHEQ Director is the leader and point of contact for internal audits and external 3rd party, regulatory and customer audits. This role has responsibility for all SHEQ personnel at the site, including the QC laboratory. The role oversees development of SHEQ staff to ensure each individual contributes to their full potential.

• Bachelor's degree in related Field

• 10+ years professional experience is required, including site manager of SHE, Quality or both.

• Working knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) concepts, practices and procedures in areas such as root cause investigation, OSHA standards and compliance, SHE Management systems, sustainability, environmental impact assessments, behavior-based safety, risk assessment

• Working knowledge of Quality fundamentals, principles and core tools

• Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement through use of applicable tools and theories such as process mapping

• Excellent interpersonal skills, written, verbal and presentation communication skills

• Safety and Quality certifications preferred

• Demonstrated influential leadership skills and the ability to lead across a large organization.

• Detail oriented and possesses good follow-up skills.

• Demonstrated capability to solve difficult problems to root cause and effectively influence corrective action completion.

• Collaborative, possess ability to motivate people, and works well across the organization.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written at all levels of the organization. Ability to effectively communicate complex and technical concepts and data to non-technical people.

• Skilled in use multiple problem-solving tools to determine root cause and adequately develop corrective action.

• Deep understanding of manufacturing processes (making, blending, packing, warehousing, etc.).
