The Operations Director provides support to the executive leadership of the Institute for the Advancement of Community Health (IACH) and manages all aspects of daily operations including implementing strategic plan, grants management, marketing and communication. This leadership position requires a strong combination of strategic thinking, operational expertise and team management skills. Job Description: Responsibilities: Assists the Executive Director with the development and implementation of the strategic plan for the IACH. Assists the Executive Director with the development and implementation of strategic relationships to strengthen, support and advocate on behalf of the Institute. Directs and manages all aspects of the budget for the institute and coordinates with the Director of Finance and Revenue Strategy. Develop institute policies, procedures, and systems to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. Responsible for coordination of overall IACH project tracking and reporting to Executive Leadership. Coordinates and approves annual job-related travel for IACH staff members. Coordinates with Marketing and Communications coordinator to oversee IACH communications, website content and publications. Directs Medical Legal Partnership (MLP) operational infrastructure and communications including leadership for MLP strategic planning. Works with Furman faculty, students and MLP partners to establish goals and objectives for student interns and supervises progress. Assists the Executive Director and Division Directors with research and establishment of potential new affiliations/ partners / programs to meet vision and mission of the institute. Coordinates activities and initiatives among the divisions of the institute. Oversight for all Institute Event Planning including the annual Community Health Forum. Manages and supervises Marketing and Communications Coordinator and student workers. Serves as a liaison to other Furman University Institutes Assists in grant preparation and manages budget of sub-awards to the IACH. Works with the Executive Director and division directors to secure and manage consulting and contract work. Facilitates Furman University interactions with existing and new affiliations which fall within the parameters of the Institute's strategic plan. Responsibility for Final Decisions: Responsible for own work. Reviews work to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and deadlines. Tasks involve interpretation of data and/or procedures to address problems or situations that are not clearly defined. Work involves non-routine/diverse work not defined by procedures. Tasks often involve multiple procedures with interrelated processes and steps before rendering final decisions. Work includes decisions regarding programs and allocation of resources. Spends time planning, scheduling, and assigning priorities of several ongoing assignments. Reports To: Executive Director of the Institute for the Advancement of Community Health Work is performed independently except where the interpretation of law, policy, rule, complex procedure or request for exception is required. Education/Skill Requirements: Bachelor's Degree with 10-15 years' experience in related field or graduate/professional degree with 5-10 years' experience Experience with interaction with the medical community and/or community health organizations. Experience with student supervision/workforce development opportunities. Experience in preparing proposals for new initiatives to include objectives, procedures, resources, budget and outcomes. Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate challenges, identify opportunities and innovative solutions. Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams to accomplish tasks. Strong leadership skills with proven ability to motivate teams to achieve goals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders. Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects and program, including budget oversight and grant management. Work Conditions: Work is performed under usual office conditions.
