PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•  Provide nursing subject matter expertise to executive leadership Provide oversight, coaching and support to RN Clinical Managers in the day-to-day management and oversight of the nursing team Serves as a resource to Practice Managers in the oversight and management of in-center clinical staff. Evaluate and modify nursing staff best practices, standards of care, standing orders, and procedures as needed according to current trends in primary medical and nursing care. Implement current or new clinic best practices, standards of care, standing orders, and procedures and monitor for adherence, usefulness, and effectivenes Assist CCO on program creation and leading/ workshopping initiatives to create and improve service lines under the direction of the CCO. Identify and enact clinical pathways/service lines while making sure to incorporate effective communication, documentation and billing best practices. Oversee and implement best practices in clinic medication supply stewardship and inventory. Evaluate knowledge base and skills of nursing for optimal competency and provide and/or coordinate appropriate staff trainings including continuing education opportunities, CPR trainings and in-service trainings This should be considered for both the new to HBH, onboarding nurses as well as on an ongoing basis for our current staff. Collaboration with the ERA department at HBH should be included to meet training needs. Provide direct feedback to staff and management in areas where safety or patient care is compromised as a part of the risk management team. Serve as a resource for hiring of RN staff and maintaining appropriate staffing levels. Devise and/or update system for triage, including communication patterns, protocols and policies which allow for safe and efficient decisions. Provide nursing care and education to patients/clients, their significant others, and staff in a compassionate manner, and apply human relations and customer service skills in establishing good rapport. Promoting and inspiring a culture of excellence amongst nursing staff that encourages collaboration between nurses and care team members and continuous improvement in our care delivery. Develop a trusting relationship with both direct reports and staff nurses. Work with Practice Managers to review and evaluate need for new medical supplies and medications. Work with Director of Practice Management and participate in evaluating patient care flow, systems, efficiency, and communication and identify areas for improvement. Work with Compliance to ensure departmental activities and records adhere to regulatory requirements, for example: infection contro Works with Director of Quality Improvement to identify and implement evidence practices to maintain and enhance quality of nursing care and to correct identified deficiencies. Works with Director of Preventive Medicine on initiatives to make sure nursing is supporting and engaged in this important area of care delivery. Works with finance team to collaborate on budgeting process for their department and ensuring their department operates within allocated funds. Facilitates communication and problem solving for departments; leads or serves on committees. Oversees and verifies completion of nursing quality assurance activities such as completion of STI treatment result audits, nursing chart audits, morbidity and mortality reporting, verification of timely response for telephone nursing desktops and telephonic nurse tria Evaluate nursing productivity across sites and balance nurse staffing ratios to support clinical care most effectivel Adhere to Howard Brown Human Resources Policies and Procedure Actively participates in fulfillment of organization's mission, vision, and core values. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor of Nursing preferred or comparable experience, two to three years of nurse management experience in a hospital or outpatient setting required. Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) required, preferably EPIC. Experience as a nurse leader, preferably as a director of nursing or associate director or nursing Experience in the areas of risk, quality, healthcare regulation and compliance Knowledge of the principles and practice of nursing and the structure and function of community health centers and/or public health nursing. Knowledge of healthcare standards (federal, state and local), regulations and best practices that govern our clinics. Knowledge and experience with multi-ethnic, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender clients, and issues highly desirable. Demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive work environment. Ability to demonstrate strong leadership, organizational skills, communication, priority-setting and ability to work in a complex environment.
