Working within the framework of the philosophy and objectives set forth by the Senior Director of Cancer Services, Clinical Director of Hospital Cancer Services, Chief Financial Officer and Medical Directors of Oncology, the Director of Nursing for Cancer Services is responsible for the administrative and clinical supervision on the ambulatory oncology clinics. Utilizing a wide range of strategies in problem solving situations, the Director of Nursing for Cancer Services demonstrates expertise in leadership, competencies, and project management.

Responsibilities include oversight of the clinical operations, programs, resources and activities within the ambulatory clinics to ensure alignment with the mission, vision, values, and objectives of the organization. The Director of Nursing for Cancer Services is responsible for the growth and sustainability of clinical practices to establish strategic development; adherence to regulatory and national standards; fiscal operations; interdepartmental collaboration; and identification and completion of process improvement initiatives in collaboration with key stakeholders. The Director of Nursing for Cancer Services will closely partner with oncology and organizational leaders to prioritize and operationalize appropriate clinical programs.


Salary range: 131,100-323,700 annual

Qualifications

  • OCN required
  • Valid CA RN License
  • Master's Degree required (Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or closely related fields preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in oncology
  • At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience with performance and budget management
  • Experience with initiation, management, and execution of performance improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge in management of sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills
  • Expertise in patient care clinical services
  • Experience with initiation and oversight of staff/patient education
  • Ability to communicate with nursing staff, nurse leaders, patients, oncologists, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, facilitators, and other groups in a professional, diplomatic manner over the telephone and in person.
  • Ability to create and maintain an environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and achieve objectives
  • Demonstrated skill in operating in EMR
  • Working knowledge of resource within outpatient and an acute care medical center with commensurate ability to refer individuals to appropriate departments
  • Strong understanding of both inpatient and outpatient cancer/oncology operations
  • Previous experience in working with health care professionals and patients in a health care setting
  • Knowledge of hospital policy and procedures
  • Knowledge of oncology regulatory standards
