ABOUT THE ROLE: The MDS Director is an RN who is responsible for directing the overall supervision, coordination, maintenance, and timely completion of the MDS, care plans and medical records for residents. Here are a few of the daily responsibilities: Using clinical skills, the MDS Director coordinates, conducts, and completes the MDS, resident care plans and conferences on the computerized system. Assures accuracy and completeness of entire medical record. Assures and monitors that MDSs are completed within HCFA and Medicare guidelines. Ensures MDS electronic submission occurs per State regulations. Participates in family/resident care plan conferences. Directs MDS department staff. Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to medical record documentation. Educates nursing staff on documentation requirements for reimbursement. Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, triple check, QA, and PPS. Encourages rehabilitative techniques in order to restore residents' independence. Assists DON in developing and implementing medical records policies and procedures. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned. Maintains current data on all residents with a significant change and ensures this information is shared with Delegating Nurse. Identifies educational opportunities for staff and develops teaching sessions that are designed to improve residents' well-being and effectiveness for service delivery. Conduct in-service training of all licensed nursing and certified nursing assistants as needed to ensure consistency of care for residents in the Health Care Center. Responsible for Manager on Duty weekend assignment. Involved in meetings as assigned, including QAPI, Risk Management and Reimbursement meetings. Assignments will be given associated with each meeting, at the DON's discretion. Assists in audits as assigned. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor. Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have: At least 2 years of experience in skilled nursing MDS. RN who is currently licensed by the State of Florida. Current CPR certification. In- depth experience and knowledge working with MDS computer software. Experience with the MDS transmittal process and understanding of regulations impacting the MDS.
