Serving as the Director of ICU/Resource, you will be responsible for the overall operation of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the Nursing Resource Pool, as well as clinical patient care area, patient population, and assigned staff. Core staff-plan accountability for systems function, staff performance, and patient care in the ICU Department. This position works closely with the medical staff, anesthesia, respiratory, and all other nursing departments in order to provide quality patient care service. The individual in this position is a key member of management and responsible for creating and improving the "patient, employee, physician, and student experience" at Samaritan. This position reports to the Chief Officer of Patient Care. This is a full-time salary exempt position. Position qualifications include: BSN required or equivalent experience. MSN preferred or MS in Business or Healthcare Administration. Three (3) years supervisory experience. Three (3) years prior experience/expertise in clinical area relevant to unit patient population. Certification in clinical area of expertise preferred. Current Washington State RN license. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills. HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic Life Support) within three (3) months of hire. As well as the following demonstrated competencies and physical requirements: Demonstrates competency on equipment listed on department specific checklist. Critical thinking skills: Seeks resources for direction, when necessary. Performs independent problem-solving. Decision-making is logical and deliberate. Performs actions that demonstrate accountability. Exercises safe judgment in decision-making. Practices within legal and ethical guidelines. Demonstrates competency in communicating with customers/patients across the age continuum. Occasional or prolonged standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing and pulling. Physical capability and stamina to carry out all psychomotor skills and strength/motion/movement required of area staff as defined in RN job description and unit-based performance standards. Good eyesight. Ability to see clearly 20 feet or more, to judge distance and space relationships, and to see peripherally. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
