Director of Housing and Community Development Classification Title: Director 3, E35 Location: 310 Court St., Clearwater, FL The full range for this role is $122,428.80 - $191,089.60, we expect to hire near the midpoint. Lead multi-jurisdictional initiatives aimed at developing and implementing innovative housing strategies to address diverse community needs. Navigate and interpret complex land development regulations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance and driving forward progress on projects. Develop comprehensive plans that integrate private sector perspectives, leveraging market insights to inform strategic decision-making. Collaborate with stakeholders from the private sector, government agencies, and community organizations to facilitate the seamless execution of projects and plans. Provide strategic guidance and leadership to cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative environment conducive to achieving project objectives. Conduct thorough analyses of market trends, demographic shifts, and regulatory changes to inform the development and adaptation of housing strategies and land development plans. Advocate for inclusive and sustainable development practices that prioritize affordability, and resilience in housing and land use planning. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, presenting findings, recommendations, and progress updates to facilitate informed decision-making and consensus-building processes. Utilize development agreements and other tools to negotiate terms and address issues related to property development. Provide guidance and support to departmental staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. Oversee all aspects of land use, housing, and transportation planning, initiatives within the county. What Do You Need To Have? Bachelor's degree in a related field or master's degree preferred. Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience that includes five (5) years of responsible management or supervisory experience, with a proven track record of leadership and achievement. Strong understanding of land use, transportation, planning, and economic development principles and practices. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate a compelling vision and influence key stakeholders. Proven ability to work independently and think strategically, with a focus on driving results. Our benefits rank among the top in the area.
