Our client is a rapidly growing manufacturing and distribution business who are looking to add a Director of Finance to their team. The company has enjoyed incredible success in the last few years' and are seeking a candidate with a similar background to join their team as they continue their expansion.

MUST HAVES ARE A MANUFACTURING / DISTRIBUTION BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE OF GREAT PLAINS

The Director of Finance will report to the Corporate Controller (with a strong dotted line to the CFO) and manage many aspects of accounting/finance operating functions, including AR, cash applications/payments, Banking/Cash Management and monthly close processes, while maintaining strong controls/policies and expanding systems efficiencies in accordance with GAAP and IRS regulations (tax matters).


Key responsibilities:

Accounting/Controls/Close/Reporting

  • Strong technical accounting skills, GAAP compliance.
  • Month end closing process experience, bank reconciliations, GAAP accrual entries, intercompany transactions, foreign currency transactions.
  • Experience in making process changes to improve efficiencies/timing of manual entries using data and systems enhancements.
  • Provide timely financial reporting and improve segment-based financial reporting with expanded budget, actual, prior period variance analysis.
  • Maintain financial and operational controls and procedures, working with foreign and domestic operating partners to ensure compliance.
  • Manage daily/weekly cash forecast process with input from AR/AP teams.
  • Manage bank account/loan balances and daily cash forecast input/output, communicate daily cash requirements to CFO.
  • Manage control processes and accounting set-up for new customers, commissions payments and vendor financing programs.
  • Manage AR function and ensure timely collection, posting and follow-up for all outstanding customer receivables and customer deductions.
  • Heavy interaction with AP function to ensure timely consolidation and review/approval of documents prior to payments being released.

Automation/Integration/Systems:

  • Oversee AR accounting and finance related process improvement projects.
  • Automate finance/accounting/cash application processes and train employees on expanded Great Plaines usage.
  • Ownership and effective interaction with AP and AR teams in automating/efficiently executing all cash and banking related transactions across AR/AP functions.
  • Trouble-shoot reporting issues and ERP system data integration, working closely with IT resources.

Other:

  • Manage team of 6-10 across accounting operating functions.
  • Participate in annual planning process and quarterly financial statement forecast updates.
  • Support/Manage other key projects, initiatives and requests by executive management.
  • Support for debt compliance and monthly/quarterly statement bank reporting.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA and MBA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of increasingly responsible accounting work experience.
  • Expertise in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Prior experience working with Great Plaines ERP system.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing and distribution environment preferred.
  • Experience working with foreign entities and foreign currency transactions preferred.

The ideal candidates will also possess:

  • Proven management skills, managing teams of 6-10.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, with strong knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong Analytical skills, self-motivated, able to work alone or within a team in a fast pace environment.
  • A positive attitude toward individual, team and company goals working effectively in a no ego environment.
