Volta Labs is building a suite of genomics applications for our first-of-its-kind digital fluidics sample prep automation platform. Our technology will remove the need for laborious sample setup, provide a technology-agnostic suite, and shorten sample processing time from hours to seconds. The Director of Finance will report into the CEO, and will be the primary finance partner for Volta Labs. This is a new role that will act as a strategic partner working closely with the CEO to guide the financial direction and decisions for the company.

Responsibilities

-Lead the FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.

-Develop and refine financial models and projections to enhance business planning and provide clear insights into revenue streams and expenditure.

-Collaborate with department heads (R&D, Commercial, Operations) to formulate the company's fiscal strategy, refine budgeting and resource allocation across projects.

-Oversee the preparation and finalization of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and present financial matters to the board of directors.

-Support the CEO on fundraising activities and investor relationships. This will require close collaboration with the CEO including pitching potential investors.

-Manage external accountants and auditors and ensure compliance with accounting and finance regulations.

-Implement policies and procedures for effective control of financial operations including strategic planning, capital budgets, operating budgets & cash flow projections.

-Supervise AR, AP, payroll, and fixed asset activities as well as oversee the accounting for equity awards.

Oversee tax, statutory and legal entity requirements.

Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

-Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, with a focus on FP&A and strategic planning.

-Proven track record of leading financial strategy and analysis in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Ideally at a company with capital equipment and consumable sales.

-Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting process and data analysis tools.

-Experience with ERP systems and financial software applications.

-Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

-Experience in developing internal controls and driving implementation of policies and procedures.

-Experience in startups or dynamic high-growth companies is a plus.

-Experience building a team and managing a team is a plus

This is a full-time position that requires a significant amount of in-person work and collaboration onsite at our Seaport Office in Boston, MA. If you are unable to relocate or commute to the Boston MA area, this role won't be a match.
