Overview:

We are seeking candidates for a Director of Data Engineering on our Analytics team to assist in the development of our data lakehouse architecture and support the execution of our overall analytics strategy.This is a hands-on role where partnering with our cloud data engineer, data scientists, business intelligence engineer to deliver our overall solution design, delivery, and support capability by dividing up the collective responsibilities under the direction of our Vice President of Data & Analytics.This role will report to our Vice President of Data & Analytics and work closely with our IT application source system experts, managed cloud provider, and consultants to deliver our Analytics capabilities and priorities while maintaining best practices and evolving as the Data & Analytics technology landscapes evolves.

We currently have a Microsoft Azure cloud solution utilizing Databricks for our lakehouse architecture.We use Azure Data Factory, PySpark notebooks, and Azure logic apps for data pipelines and orchestration, and serve analytics via Power BI.

You will:

  • Responsible for the overall technical blueprint of our analytics environment including data patterns, standards, and DevOps approvals and workflow.
  • Design, develop, and maintain the data lakehouse platform and data pipelines, ensuring they meet business requirements and best practices.
  • Use Azure Data Factory, PySpark notebooks, logic apps and SQL for data movement across our medallion Databricks architecture structure.
  • Utilize version control systems in Azure DevOps to manage codebase and ensure seamless collaboration and code promotion across environments.
  • Create high-level estimates and assist team members with estimating workloads and managing day to day development.
  • Approve code design and assist with migration of code/deployments across environments.
  • Partner with cloud managed services team to meet security, networking, and cloud infrastructure best practices are implemented and maintained.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in data engineering, Azure, and Databricks development.
  • Mentor developers and data scientists by providing technical guidance when needed.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or other analytical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience designing, developing, and supporting ETL, BI, and Data. analytics applications in an enterprise environment.
  • Minimum five years of experience using Azure cloud computing technologies.
  • Minimum three years leading and developing technical delivery teams
  • Extensive professional experience with Big Data systems, data pipelines and data processing.
  • Deep expertise in Data Architecture, Data Modeling, and task estimations.
  • Familiarity with data privacy standards, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Practical hands-on experience with data technologies and Cloud Platform in Azure and Databricks.
  • Deep understanding of performance tuning activities for data pipelines and orchestration best practices.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage work to tight deadlines and handle the pressure of executive requests and project systems launches.
  • Ability to deliver consistent high-quality results while working in a dynamic & fast paced environment with extreme attention to detail and ability to self-audit work.
  • Minimum three years of hands-on experience using Databricks, ingesting data using pipelines, and loading delta tables.
  • Extensive experience with Apache Spark, Python, and SQL.
  • Experience working in a Data Lake environment handling structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience working with APIs for data ingestion and integration.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to produce reliable, effective solutions.
  • Possessing a positive attitude and ability to work in a collaborative and energetic team environment.
  • Power BI and Tabular modeling knowledge is a plus.
