Overview We are currently seeking a Director of Construction to join our growing team in Dallas, Texas. The Director of Construction is responsible for leading our construction efforts from strategy through new store openings and remodels. This key leadership role involves strategizing, planning, and executing construction initiatives to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality project completions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, excellent project management skills, navigating building permit processes, and the ability to lead a team to success. Lead strategy and oversee execution of all projects of the construction team for our corporate and franchise stores, including new construction, renovations, upgrades, and ground-up development projects. Lead the execution on delivery of branded elements and prototype standards in every store while collaborating with internal direct reports to ensure brand mission, innovation, and guest-focus are brought to the forefront to build our brand. Provide leadership to ensure the overall timeliness of construction project schedules of all Smoothie King projects are met. This will include partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Brand ambassador that can communicate our construction strategy accurately and effectively to the team, franchisees, architects, and general contractors. Leads communication and collaboration with key franchise partners. Manage direct reports with immediate feedback on performance and weekly touch bases to review deliverables, regular development, and coaching. Manage operating budget for department to meet financial targets. Build and manage budgets for new store CapEx, facilities, special projects, and remodels. Qualify and manage a list of approved contractors, consultants, and vendors, and negotiate contracts, ensuring all phases of the work are encompassed and a clear definition of work responsibility is defined. Relentlessly monitor competitors, store innovations, and market dynamics to identify and deliver trend right strategies for each segment of design and construction. Responsibilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization. Attention to detail while working in fast-paced environment with multiple projects. Strong financial acumen with an ability to manage budgets and control costs. Ability to work cross-functionally and to coordinate communication across diverse work groups. Demonstrated organization and project management skills. Interest in working in a fast-growing environment with changing responsibilities. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Vendor RFP process lead / review Selected job-related travel to review projects on a needs / process basis Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment, while possessing a can-do attitude. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree is required and a degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering preferred. At least ten (10) years' experience overseeing design/build of commercial/ restaurant/QSR construction. Strong engagement skills including relationship building, negotiating, and closing is required. Qualified candidate with franchise development experience in multi-unit growth with a proven track record of success is a plus. Microsoft Office Suite knowledge required, specifically Microsoft Excel. Personal passion for health and fitness is a plus.
