Position: Director of College and Career Counseling

Location: Match High School, Boston, MA (Brighton Campus)

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Match High School has an opening for a Director of College and Career (C&C) Counseling, who leads the work of Match's College and Career Counseling Team. The role is based at our high school location on 1001 Commonwealth Ave, Brighton, MA. The compensation for the position starts at $123,624 and can be higher if the candidate has prior, directly relevant experience. Match offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes significant coverage of health insurance costs and student loan repayment assistance. The hours for the position are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm. Participation in periodic evening events will also be necessary.

The Director of C&C Counseling will:

  • Oversee and provide college application advising to seniors through individual 1-1 meetings, and weekly C&C counseling classes;
  • Assist in coordinating on-time completion of financial aid application and family income documents;
  • Support, help organize, and chaperone college trips, group visits to college, and career fairs;
  • Support students in accessing summer programs, off-site programs, and competitive multi-year opportunity programs;
  • Help lead and support the running of key college and career-related events and rituals, including but not exclusively: Senior Cloaking Day, Senior Signing Day, graduation, college representative visits, personal statement workshops, career day events, summer enrichment fairs
  • Support the tracking of enrichment program applications, acceptances, and participation.
  • Uphold expectations for all Instructional Leaders outlined in the Instructional Leader Overview

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The C&C Counseling Team supports students throughout their high school experience and plays a critical role in fulfilling Match's mission to support students in college and career success and beyond. The Director of C&C Counseling leads the team and supports each member of the team in doing their best work.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the College & Career (C&C) team, including our alumni support team;
  • Oversee the delivery of college and career readiness lessons to 9th-12th graders to prepare them for college visits and the college and career process, including content related to summer enrichment opportunities and resumes;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with college admissions representatives;

We are looking for applicants who possess:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree
  • Five or more years prior experience in college/career counseling or a related field, preferably in an urban public school, with a strong track record of success supporting students
  • Prior experience managing and leading teams
  • A deep commitment to Match's mission and core values and a passion for social justice, equity and the belief that all students deserve the opportunity for a great education;
  • Strong oral communication and writing skills;
  • High attention to details and meeting deadlines, especially regarding application paperwork, files, records, systems, and data tracking;
  • Excitement about the possibility of receiving feedback and using it to grow continually.
  • A student-centered perspective and a desire to see all students succeed.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate young people.
