Guides the development and implementation of a comprehensive university-wide assessment structure (including articulating policies and procedures) and supports the Office of the Provost in ensuring that Towson University is compliant with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education standards and requirements as they relate to academic assessment and institutional effectiveness. Leads the Office of Assessment, including supervising staff, specifically the Assessment Coordinator, and managing the office budget, website, and TU's assessment database system (Anthology). Supports and facilitates student learning outcome assessment for all academic programs and for Towson University's core (general education) curriculum, including assessment design. Designs and delivers assessment-related training/professional development, resources and materials, and other activities/events for faculty and staff, including working in collaboration with other offices/units at the university. Supports both academic and non-academic divisions/offices/programs in developing, refining, and implementing unit/programmatic assessment plans; assists and provides direction to staff and faculty, including the designated assessment coordinators within each college of the university, on assessment-related activities required by the university. Manages the collection and analysis of assessment data, including annual student learning outcome achievement data, and prepares and disseminates regular reports based on this analysis to relevant stakeholders. Serves on university committees, including Academic Senate committees, which include an assessment focus and performs other duties as assigned in support of assessment and accreditation at the university. Responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining the university's Middle States Commission on Higher Education evidence inventory database. Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing. Master's degree Five years or more of higher education assessment experience. Ability to think strategically and develop and implement a vision for institutional assessment. Experience leading and successfully implementing multi-year assessment-related projects in a higher education setting. Highly proficient with database systems and statistical analysis and data warehouse/mining tools. Experience utilizing a variety of research methods and strategies to collect, analyze, and report/present assessment data (both quantitative and qualitative) to specific target audiences using multiple formats. Knowledge of current trends and best practices in higher education assessment, especially assessment design and use of technology and tools in support of assessment. Superior communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders across the university. Ability to work well with a supervisor and as part of a team, while also being able to perform job duties independently and in a professional manner. Organized with a strong attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize responsibilities, and coordinate numerous projects simultaneously. Preferred: Experience with regional and/or national higher education/professional accrediting bodies and/or a background in institutional research.
