Description: Torit Montessori School is an infant through sixth-grade independent school on Boston's historic Beacon Hill. Our mission is to educate bright and capable students in the spirit of Dr. Maria Montessori's groundbreaking methods, allowing students to explore materials, ideas, and applications at their own pace, with guidance, direction, and encouragement from teachers.

The Director of Admissions presents the School to prospective families, working to enroll and retain a diverse group of well-matched students each year. This position demands professionalism, public relations skills, strategic thinking and problem solving abilities, mar-com knowledge, a high degree of computer literacy, and requires a dynamic self-starter who takes initiative and has the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal direction. The position is full time, year round, and is eligible for benefits.

We are a small shop, and every administrator is expected to pitch in with humor and good will to keep Torit humming. We all soothe upset kids, support stressed parents, and fix broken stuff. We play with infants, help upper elementary students with homework, and sing in Arabic, Mandarin, and Spanish (we teach all three.). A positive attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to roll with whatever the day brings is essential. The strongest candidates will have the ability to simultaneously work hard and laugh.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree and have 3-5 years of experience in a Montessori, early childhood, or independent school admission office (or equivalent) with demonstrated ability in recruitment and outreach. He or she must have excellent written and oral communication skills. The position requires exceptional organizational abilities, attention to detail, and unwavering follow through. Experience with online marketing and social media is required. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with marketing to and educational programming for children ages infant-12 years old. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Engaging students and families in each step of the admissions and enrollment process, ensuring excellent and individualized communication and experiences, including tours and application support.
  • Organizing and implementing admission efforts aimed at attracting students appropriate to the School, including school visits, information sessions, open houses, and school fairs
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues to drive prospective family interest, generate affinity, retain current families, and inspire engagement
  • Monitoring, assessing, and updating enrollment targets. Anticipating enrollment challenges and enacting data-driven solutions to create and retain a robust, diverse student body
  • Conducting admission tours, reading admission files, making admission decisions, and coordinating yield efforts for admitted students
  • Implementing the use of Clarity for tuition support decisions
  • Managing inquiry, application, and retention data. Developing and monitoring statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency
  • Monitoring tuition payments in partnership with the bookkeeper
  • Collaborating with the Head of School to design and implement a comprehensive marketing plan, including online marketing and social media efforts
