Position Summary:
Notre Dame Health Care is looking for a Full Time Activities Director for our Long term care building. This position assists the direct care staff in keeping the residents involved in the unit socially, cognitively, and recreationally. The Director insures that schedule programming is carried out seven days a week. This position also serves as a leadership position as an integral member of the facilities management team.

Responsibilities:
- Provide a plan of activities appropriate to the needs of the residents that includes, but is not limited to: Group social activities, indoor and outdoor activities, which may include daily walks, activities away from the facility, spiritual programs, opportunity for resident involvement in planning and implementation of the activities program, creative activities such as arts, crafts, music, drama, educational programs, and exercise activities.
- Coordinate the activities program with other services in the facility.
- Prepare a monthly calendar of activities written in large print and posted in a prominent location that is visible to residents and visitors.
- Manages, develops, and evaluates staff performance and provides on-going timely, constructive feedback (e.g., coaching, counseling, written/oral disciplinary action, performance log). Assist in developing and maintaining staff competencies in dementia care principles.
- Develops and monitors purchasing/inventory control procedures; order supplies and equipment from approved vendors. Maintains written record of department expenditures and assures that adequate financial records and cost reports are submitted to the Executive Director upon request or as necessary.
- Creates and executes effective staffing and scheduling patterns within the facility's guidelines.

- Minimum of 2 years experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, one of which was full-time in an activities program in a health care setting.
- Certified Activities Director preferred; or must be willing to get certified within a year of employment. (Certification will be paid by Notre Dame Health Care)
