Role: Director Product Management, Observability


The successful Candidate for this role will become part of the Fidelity Cloud and Platform Engineering (CAPE) Business and Engagement Office to focus on Observability. Preferred Location: Merrimack, NH or Westlake, TX.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in leading technology-focused teams and functions in a matrixed environment.

  • Experience influencing stakeholders, establishing strong relationships, and bringing large cross-functional groups together

  • Strong understanding of observability strategies including technologies supporting monitoring, logging, tracing, metrics, synthetics, and real user monitoring.

  • Proficiency with relevant open source observability tools and platforms.

  • Expertise in managing external vendors on key deliverables, operations metrics, and financial optimization.

  • Ability to successfully prioritize requests from multiple teams to deliver maximum value.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships to gain in-depth understanding of people, process, and tools required to deliver product marketing for the business.

  • You have strong relationship management and interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage and influence senior leaders.

  • Expertise in management and use of data analytics, especially with respect to technology and access management risks.

  • You possess strong business/technical knowledge related to technology planning and Agile delivery processes.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to concisely share and gain consensus for new insights, influence decisions and make sound, compelling arguments.

  • You take an analytical approach to understanding customer needs, effectively translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize reliably to improve value delivered.



The Value You Deliver:

  • Serve as the voice of the customer by understanding their short- and long-term development plans and incorporating them into the Observability platform strategy.

  • Maintain a prioritized roadmap for our Observability platform and tools that incorporates BU (Business Unit) requirements and technology initiatives across the various squads and product areas.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with our Observability vendors to drive the needs of Fidelity into Observability products and services.

  • Provide communications to BU partners for events, releases, and other deliverables for the Observability platform.

  • Coordinate with fellow product managers in CAPE and other Enterprise Technology groups to ensure proper alignment of key deliverables.

  • Provide oversight of the Observability platform through the development and tracking of key metrics with a focus towards risk reduction in cost, security, and operations.

  • Proactively engage BUs (Business Unit) and stakeholders to anticipate needs and remove roadblocks that enable partners to achieve their goals.


The Team

You work in partnership with Product Area, Team, and Chapter Leaders aligned to your deliverables. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you sustain and evolve our innovative agile culture. You will integrate with development teams across Fidelity to understand their usage and need for Observability services to drive efficient and intelligent adoption of our Core and Common Observability Platforms.


At Fidelity, our goal is for most people to work flexibly in a way that balances both personal and business needs with time onsite and offsite through what we are calling Dynamic Working. Most associates will have a hybrid schedule with a requirement to work onsite at a Fidelity work location for at least one week, all business days, every four weeks. These requirements are subject to change.

Reminder: Per the Dynamic Working Policy, approved exceptions will be reviewed annually, or when the associate accepts a new role, whichever comes first.

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs.
