About the job

The Quality Director of Pixel Mobile Products will be responsible for quality from New Product Introduction (NPI) through End of Life (EOL), across the entire portfolio of Pixel phones, watches, and first-party accessories. You will be responsible for identifying and evolving best practices, and sustaining an organization that has scaled with world class execution.

You will lead a global team in Product Design for Quality, Factory Quality, Field Failure Analysis, and Carrier Quality Management. You will balance quality, engineering, and operations processes and take into account the competitive dynamics to surpass the rate of innovation in the consumer electronics industry. This will encompass supporting large volume products and first generation products within the Pixel Mobile product portfolio. You will be the main interface to the Engineering and Operations Leads.

The Head of Pixel Product Quality will directly lead a team across functions including NPI Quality Technical Program Management, Manufacturing Quality Engineering, Carrier Quality, and Failure Analysis Engineering. As an executive leader of the business, you will also have responsibility for the development of leadership talent within the organization, in order to ensure that a robust pipeline of skilled leaders are available. Specifically, you will build and develop a team of Engineering-minded Quality professionals and fortify the team's reputation as a highly effective resource of expertise and go to contacts of Product Quality.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $253,000-$363,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
  • Design, execute, and implement quality solutions and processes and associated strategies that take into account the competitive dynamics of the Google hardware business.
  • Lead a team of Quality professionals to drive rapid time to market at immediate scale, with no compromise to Product Quality and own Design for Quality, Manufacturing and Carrier Quality from New Product Introduction (NPI) through End of Life (EOL).
  • Lead cross-functional teams across other business functions and initiatives in close partnership with key stakeholder groups like Hardware Engineering, Supplier Development Engineering, Software Engineering, Sourcing and Procurement, and Logistics.
  • Create a culture that balances agility and flexibility with the expectation of new products that can scale.
