Job Summary

The Northeast Georgia Health System Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Northeast Georgia Heath System. Reporting to the President and Chief Development Officer, the Director of Development works directly with Foundation staff, volunteers, donors, NGHS leadership and the community to ensure friend-raising and fundraising success. The Director of Development is responsible for planning, implementing, managing and evaluating strategies and programs in order to develop and grow the fundraising capabilities of the Foundation with the guidance of the President & CDO. The Director of Development will provide support to the President and CDO, Development Officers, volunteer committee members, NGHS senior leadership and Board of Trustees by creating donor-centric tools, managing the fundraising programs and staff, and driving the fundraising efforts and building relationships between the community and the Foundation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Planning, implementing and managing strategies to increase the total fundraising results of the Northeast Georgia Health System Foundation. Managing the development team, consisting of the Annual Giving Officers, Major Gift Officers, Annual Giving Manager and Senior Major Gifts Officer, ensuring actions and activities take place that tie in to donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Developing metrics for calls, visits and annual goals for all fundraising officers, and ensuring capture activities in the Raisers Edge database. Capital campaign experience a plus, broad development knowledge and experience in major gifts, planned giving, grants and annual fund programs. Partnering with the Director of Foundation Operations to ensure operational efficiency, reporting, communication needs and database management practices that help drive success and pipeline development. As a member of the Northeast Georgia Health System Foundation professional development team, the Director of Development is responsible for having broad knowledge of the purpose, the importance and status of all projects, programs, individuals and organizations having contact with the NGHS Foundation; will participate in short and long-range planning activities to develop fundraising goals and objectives; will work to ensure successful outcomes of said goals and objectives

Minimum Job Qualifications
•   Licensure or other certifications:
•   Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Non-Profit Management or related field or five (5)+ years of business experience and translatable skills
•   Minimum Experience: Five (5) - Ten (10) years fundraising experience in a healthcare setting, or in major gift fundraising and/or program management

•   Preferred Educational Requirements: Masters degree in Business Administration, public relations, non-profit management or other related field conducive to major gift fundraising

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
•   Manage a portfolio of high-level prospective donors and donors with responsibility for the cultivation and solicitation of signature and major gifts. Responsibility to meet individual metrics and goals, as well as those of the entire team.
•   Research and identify strategic relationship development and increased awareness and visibility opportunities within the Northeast Georgia Health System service area and engage appropriate staff, volunteers or leadership to create detailed plans and tactics necessary - on a case by case basis - to build relationships that will result in a larger base of community support.
•   Implement the use of moves management as well as coach and manage that process with development staff.
•   Recruit, train, manage and mentor a team of highly qualified professionals to build the Foundations capabilities and promote and increase philanthropic support throughout the entire NGHS service area. Focus on accountability in portfolio development, significant actions, opportunity stage and the donor lifecycle.
•   Provide regular reporting to President and CDO on all information on revenue and metrics on major gift solicitation as well and annual giving results.
•   Share responsibility with President and CDO for developing a strategic plan, manage the coordination and implementation of the fundraising plans and goals set forth.
•   Work diligently to strengthen relationships with the community, volunteers and donors to develop and sustain support of the NGHS Foundation.
•   Plans, implements and manages strategies to build and increase the NGHS Foundation's base of donor support.
•   Serve as a public representative of the Foundation - coordinating speakers and making presentations to constituent groups to present impact stories, impact of philanthropy, campaign and development related projects, as needed.
•   Works with the Director of Foundation Operations to develop and implement stewardship plans for major gift donors consistent with the donors wishes and following any associated policies regarding donor recognition.
•   Work to create, implement and manage solicitation and year-round engagement strategies for donor retention, acquisition and awareness with the goal of increased engagement, increased donors across the region and increased funds raised.
•   Maintain current understanding of NGHS and community health improvement goals and initiatives, focus areas, success and overall results in order to effectively communicate to donors, in materials, proposals, presentations and community events. Attend internal and external meetings, fairs and community events.
•   Partner with President and CDO and Director of Foundation Operations for annual planning, goals, metrics, tracking mechanisms, budget and departmental objectives.
•   Partner with President and CDO and Director of Foundation Operations for staff engagement strategies and tactics.
•   Overall Raiser's Edge responsibility for entire development team - accurate data entry, recording and partnership with the operations team to maintain integrity of the tool.
•   Focus on year to year fundraising growth, with emphasis on donor retention, acquisition and pipeline development.
•   Work with Annual Gifts Manager to develop and implement wealth screening processes, prospect identification strategies and tracking mechanisms. Holding Major Gift Officers accountable for research, follow-up and data entry standard work.
•   Gap analysis of fundraising operations and development of relevant policies, procedures and standard work to improve outcomes and strategic development. Focus on continuous improvement and growth.
•   Hire and train appropriate staff; uphold standards of performance, monitor and supervise staff; evaluate performance in timely manner. Encourage professional development of staff. Update and maintain job descriptions. Oversees, directs and organizes the work of the development team members, helps remove obstacles and promote success of MGOs in support of President & CDO.
•   Works closely with President, Director of Operations, Annual Giving Manager, Fundraising Coordinator and system partners to build a and ultimately manage a formal Grateful Patient Program. Evaluates opportunities for future programs for system integration.
•   Relationship development: communicates, follows up, and builds positive relationships with donors to thank, educate and to encourage repeat giving and loyalty through letters, phone calls, visits and updates, including personal visits when appropriate to donors.
