PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Director, Clinical Applications oversees the adoption and growth of the new electronic medical record, which serves as the foundational technology to help improve the quality and efficiency of patient care. This will include ownership of the IT operations for the EMR as well as various ancillary systems across the Hospital enterprise. The Director will also develop long-term technology vision and strategic plans based on alignment with and support for the organization's strategies and goals. Provide expert counsel and guidance to senior management on business, education and clinical issues as seen through an IT lens. Plan and execute consistent with overall organizational strategy and growth supporting all clinical programs and services as well as hospital operations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Recommend and implement process improvements including support of Revenue Cycle Optimization, Clinical and Quality improvements. Develop long-term technology vision and strategic plans based on alignment with and support for the organization's strategies and goals. Direct the definition, architecture, development, implementation, maintenance and support of application systems, which drive and enable organization objectives. Perform ongoing information risk assessments and audits to ensure information system are properly and proactively protected. Document all system implementations, applications, disaster plans, business continuity and recovery plans and all supporting policies and procedures. Support and provide focus on all integration activities and set integration strategies to drive standardization to one single platform. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Eagleville. OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES: Develop the IT capital and operating budget, monitor performance against the budget and act to maintain budget compliance. Create effective external/internal partnerships and support negotiation of various agreements with service providers and hardware and software vendors. Conduct ongoing strategic sourcing to identify the most cost effective, efficient and appropriate utilization of internal, contracted and outsourced IT functions including systems, infrastructure and network operations, maintenance and support. Ensure performance to all related elements - cost, schedule and budget - as they relate to the existing plan and forecast; continuously improve unit cost performance while maximizing existing as well as new information technology capability and innovation. EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Seven years of experience with information systems and EMRs with at least five years of leadership experience implementing and managing integrated systems in a complex and evolving healthcare setting.
