The Director, Testing & Process Engineering is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the testing processes and resources within the IT Platform Engineering department. This role involves strategic planning, process improvement, team leadership, and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the efficient delivery of high-quality software solutions.

The Director leads a small team of testing & process engineering professionals, ensuring their work is well organized and positioned for success, and provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.

Resource & Capacity Planning Leadership:

  • Maintain a very high level of customer service and account management while maintaining sales and profitability in the assigned region
  • Increase sales and develop future opportunities for Brother sales through proactive prospecting activities
  • Contact accounts, qualify them, secure presentations, and close account leads that are generated by prospecting
  • Actively participate in related vertical market events, including but not limited to: trade shows, technology seminars, and association meetings Assess current state resource allocation & capacity planning processes; build a roadmap for envisioned future state across Resource Management, Release Management, and Testing Management
  • Develop and implement process and tool improvements for optimizing resource utilization; lead the associated change management processes
  • Manage communication and any training required for Product Owners
  • Identify and address resource constraints to ensure efficient project delivery
  • Continuously monitor and adjust resource allocation based on project needs
  • Provide recommendations to drive efficiency across related IT processes and tool

Release Management:


  • Lead the planning and execution of application release management activities
  • Establish release policies, procedures, and schedules to ensure smooth deployments
  • Coordinate with development, testing, and infrastructure teams to streamline release processes
  • Implement automation and tools to enhance release management efficiency
  • Document all relevant work activity

Testing Management:

  • Lead the adoption of automated testing techniques to accelerate delivery and improve reliability
  • Partner with the Infrastructure team to develop necessary testing assets and processes (environment landscapes, load testing tools, and support model)
  • Evaluate existing testing methodologies and tools to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement strategies for comprehensive testing coverage
  • Establish testing standards, best practices, and metrics to ensure quality assurance

Team & Organizational Leadership:

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to the testing and process engineering team
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration within the team
  • Set clear goals and objectives aligned with departmental and organizational objectives
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and development
  • Collaborate within IT and across Business Subject Matter Experts to achieve organizational & departmental goals

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Overall management of staff, ensuring assignments and duties are completed as required
  • Compose and conduct performance reviews
  • Provide guidance, training, mentoring, coaching and development
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, promoting and terminating


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, business, or a related field - Required

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of a combination of relevant experience spanning the following areas:
  • Progressive experience managing & deploying Testing Management functions for application teams
  • Experience with Jira, SAP, and Salesforce platforms
  • Experience with Application Release Management
  • Experience with IT Resource and Capacity Management
  • Experience driving change across IT and Business stakeholders
  • Experience leading & managing a team

Software/Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of SAP Platform
  • Knowledge of Salesforce Platform
  • Knowledge of JIRA Platform

Other Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Testing Management, Application Release Management, IT Resource & Capacity Planning, and Change Management
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal)
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the business and influence change
  • Excellent process management skills
  • Ability to effectively lead, motivate, and develop people

This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by managers.


  • The salary (or hiring) range for this position is $185,000 - $200,000 per year
  • Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data
  • This position is eligible to participate in the relevant Brother variable pay incentive plan(s). Applicable bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon 1) achievement of your individual objectives and 2) Brother achieving its corporate and business-level objectives
