The Director of Employee Relations is responsible for diagnosing, resolving, and investigating highly sensitive and complex employee relations issues (e.g., sexual harassment or other discrimination claims, threats of violence, mental health concerns, hostile work environment) from across the firm as identified from partnership with business unit HR colleagues, Employee 1-800 number and MyHR portal. Working with HR business partners including Legal and Security, you will lead efforts investigating and addressing issues as needed.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 10 plus years' experience in HR with 5 years Employee Relations preferred and/or equivalent experience as a manager of people
  • Employee Relations expertise with a strong background in investigations, with an emphasis on investigations of workplace complaints preferred.
  • Experience with employment law principals.
  • Experience in handling difficult, complex, and highly sensitive employee relations issues and providing guiding and mentorship to associates and managers
  • Skill in providing consultative expertise on employee relations matters, with a focus on complex/ high-risk situations, some involving a mental health component
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and competing deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening, verbal and nonverbal communication, social awareness, empathy, and accountability
  • Ability to work effectively as a valuable partner and trusted advisor to all levels of associates and management
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and make independent decisions and recommendations on difficult and sensitive matters in a thorough and expeditious manner
  • Ability to treat each issue with discretion, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Strong aptitude to identify trends and develop proposed solutions
The Value You Deliver
  • Handling all complex employee relations cases from across the company which includes detailing and managing case notes for legal and archiving purposes
  • Conduct detailed investigations of concerns and appropriately engage and advise management, leadership, and HR partners
  • Identifying and recognizing trends, raising issues with appropriate partners including recommendations and solutions for addressing concerns
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with HR, Legal, Security, Corporate Real Estate, and Business Contingency
  • Proactively identify and lead process improvement opportunities and occasionally participate as both lead and subject matter expert in cross company initiatives

Fidelity's Employee Relations team is a centralized function within HR that ensures a consistent and equitable approach to employee relations' issues which helps mitigate risk to the company. With best-in-class processes and operations, we have been doing this important work for the company under this structure for over 20 years. You will join a team of approximately 35 experienced employee relations experts who solve complex problems on a regular basis. With a detailed onboarding program and support of colleagues with a variety of subject matter expertise, you will be an integral part of one of the most dedicated employee relations teams in the industry.
