The Biotechnology Discovery Research group located in both San Diego and Indianapolis discovers medicines that address significant unmet needs by integrating biology with innovative scientific capabilities in protein engineering and computational sciences. We collaborate with colleagues in both the discovery and development organizations, including scientists in therapeutic area biology, biomolecule formulation and developability, ADME, Toxicology, PK/PD, Statistics, Computational Sciences, Advanced Analytics, Information Technology, Software Development, Clinical Development, and more. Our team has more than 25 years of experience discovering and developing antibody, protein, and peptide therapeutics. We combine our rich expertise in protein engineering with the latest computational biology, ranging from in silico predictions of protein properties to select the best hits to de novo design of novel protein therapeutics.


Our team is seeking a motivated scientist with a background in digital biotherapeutic discovery research to join us and accelerate development of our next generation digital platform so that we can better serve patients with unmet medical needs.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead our ongoing data capture initiatives in partnership with discovery scientists, data scientists, computational scientists, and information technology colleagues.

  • Continue to optimize workflows and digital tools supporting biotherapeutic discovery and engineering platforms.

  • Partner with computational scientists to enable in silico biotherapeutic discovery and optimization using bioinformatics and/or AI/ML methods.

  • Organize and present strategies and data to support decisions to leadership and cross-functional teams.

  • Align local data strategy and infrastructure with enterprise solutions, including establishing appropriate governance and change management processes and documentation.

  • Influence and align digital transformation efforts of key strategic partners (including therapeutic areas, ADME, PK/PD, other discovery and development organizations) with local efforts.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies by continuously monitoring vendor offerings, reviewing the literature, attending meetings and conferences, and maintaining a broad professional network.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in protein engineering, protein biochemistry, protein biophysics, molecular biology, protein structural biology, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in biotherapeutic discovery research with a strong background in digital transformation efforts in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting.


Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Comprehensive knowledge in antibody discovery and biologics drug discovery research, protein sciences, and SAR is preferred.

  • Strong background in data sciences and/or ML/AI modeling is highly desired.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, collaborate and function in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to partner with cross-functional colleagues across geographies.
