Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Director & Chief Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Aerospace Structures business unit. This leadership role is based in Clearfield, Utah . Aerospace Structures is a worldclass manufacturer of composite structures for commercial and military aircraft and launch vehicles. The selected leader will serve as the business unit's Chief Engineer and Senior Director and will report to the Air Dominance Division VP, Engineering while matrixed to the Aerospace Structures VP, Programs. As a Chief Engineer, you will have responsibilities for engineering across the broad Aerospace Structures portfolio and will collaborate with Aerospace Structures program and functional leadership teams to ensure unified engineering support across all programs. As a leader, you will be responsible for managing the business unit's technical performance and provide technical oversight to a multi-disciplinary Engineering team of over 300+ engineers. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Ensure the Aerospace Structures technical team adheres to sound engineering processes across all disciplines Maintain design authority for large complex structural assemblies Manage, develop, and maintain engineering roadmaps for build to print capabilities, large-scale automation and provide technical oversight for R&D prototyping Design, development, lead preparation of and approve technical and cost inputs for all new proposals and ECPs to achieve program goals Maintain cognizance and integration over technical activities operating units and ensure horizontal integration of the best engineering practices across the business unit Ensure staffing needs are met while providing development, hiring, and initiatives to retain effective engineering staff Support proposals and assist in the negotiation of work and create performance baseline plans The successful candidate will demonstrate a collaborative leadership style, strong architecting skills, and developed communication skills. Must have the ability to work in a high pace dynamic organization and work collaboratively to influence and gain commitment to performance from all organizations and stakeholders. The leader must have both technical depth and breadth across aircraft fabrication and assembly (specifically composites), demonstrated creative complex structure and subsystem production / field issue resolution, as well as mission systems engineering knowledge. The leader will provide advice and consultation to executive leadership on strategy and technical options and utilize their technical knowledge to pursue creative options that support our company and prime customer business decisions. The leader will also help shape the future business and developing strategies that strive to bring the best value to the business unit. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with at least 15 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with at least 13 years of relevant experience 6 years of experience as a technical manager including experience leading large, multifunctional engineering teams 5 years of aircraft production or complex aircraft assembly experience of metallic or composite structures Active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation). Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree(s) in Business/Management and/or Engineering Composite and Metallic structure MRB experience Aircraft producibility initiative management and issue resolution (Design Understanding of business processes and working knowledge of business systems Salary Range: $197,500 - $296,300 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
