Manufacturing Supervisor - Die Casting

Location: Peachtree City, GA

Our company, located in the suburban Atlanta area, is a well-established leader in manufacturing with a significant market share in the U.S. We are currently seeking a skilled Manufacturing Supervisor with expertise in Die Casting to join our team. This day shift position requires a 10-hour workday from Monday to Thursday, with some additional hours on Fridays. The exact schedule may vary. In addition to a competitive salary and bonus potential, we offer an attractive 401K package with a 100% match up to 5%. Good relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 20 people and ensuring smooth operations in our zinc die casting environment. Your tasks will include troubleshooting die equipment, controlling quality, correcting defects, and managing production planning and scheduling. Multi-tasking skills and strong leadership abilities are essential.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Supervisor - Die Casting will oversee all operations within the department, ensuring the quality of production, managing employees, maintaining safety regulations, and monitoring daily production standards.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain and enforce safety regulations within the department.
Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the department.
Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
Participate in the hiring process by reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, or making hiring decisions or recommendations.
Train, counsel, and discipline employees within the department.
Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects within the Supervisor's department.
Complete Time and Attendance tasks within the department using Microsoft Dynamics AX.
Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
Maintain organization of surrounding workspace (6s).
Conduct regular cycle counts and other inventory controls to ensure inventory accuracy.
Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
Observe work and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.

DEPARTMENTAL SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Initiate changes in casting cycle times, lubrication of dies, preheating of dies, and/or process parameters to ensure the quality of the castings produced. Assist in troubleshooting of departmental machinery as needed.
Supervise operation of all equipment, including Die Cast Machines, Trim Presses, Laundry System, and Melting Furnace.
Analyze, organize, and plan production to meet customer needs.
Perform data entry via production reports daily.
Ensure accurate and complete timekeeping.
Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects, Gemba walks, 6S audits, and layered process audits within the department.
Work cross-functionally with other departments to resolve and improve production-related needs.
Document training events within the department and ensure implementation.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, or three to five years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in HPDC (zinc, aluminum, and/or equivalent). High pressure aluminum die casting experience is preferred, but other types of die casting will be considered.
Three to five years' experience in troubleshooting HPDC machinery.
Three to five years' experience in quality control within a die casting environment, with the ability to identify rejects and determine root causes to prevent recurrence.
Three to five years' experience using MRP/ERP software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
Experience reading and interpreting documents, writing routine reports and correspondence, and speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Experience working with mathematical concepts and solving practical problems using a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The job requires the ability to quickly move hands and arms and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work environment is usually loud, and hearing protection may be required in some manufacturing departments.
