Job Title: Die Casting Production Manager
Location: Auburn, AL

An established company with a significant share of the U.S. market in their manufacturing industry is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor - Die Casting for their plant in Auburn, AL due to growth. This full-time day shift position typically runs from 6:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, although there may be some variation in hours. The extensive benefits package includes a highly attractive 401K plan with a 100% match up to 5%. The salary range is competitive, and there is generous bonus potential based on performance. This role involves overseeing a zinc die casting environment with multiple machines of various tonnage for producing finished products. Multi-tasking is a critical requirement for this position. The Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of approximately 20 people, with a strong emphasis on leadership skills. The key responsibilities include troubleshooting die equipment, ensuring quality control, rectifying defects, and managing production planning and scheduling.

General Summary

The Manufacturing Supervisor - Die Casting oversees all operations within their department, including but not limited to ensuring production quality, managing employees, maintaining safety regulations, and monitoring daily production standards. The supervisor performs the following duties:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and enforce safety regulations within the department.
Direct and coordinate the activities of department employees.
Resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances in consultation with management or subordinates.
Participate in the hiring process, including reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions or recommendations.
Train, counsel, and discipline employees within the department.
Coordinate operations and activities with other supervisors and departments.
Inspect materials, products, or equipment within the department to detect defects.
Complete time and attendance tasks within the department using Microsoft Dynamics AX.
Analyze records and reports to determine production requirements and evaluate current estimates and outputs.
Maintain organization in the workspace according to 6s principles.
Conduct regular cycle counts and other inventory controls to ensure accuracy.
Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet goals.
Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
Ensure operators conform to production or processing standards by observing work and other indicators.
Department-Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

In addition to the above responsibilities, the Manufacturing Supervisor may have specific duties and responsibilities in the Die Cast department. These responsibilities include:

Initiating changes in casting cycle times, lubrication of dies, preheating of dies, and/or process parameters to ensure the quality of castings produced.
Supervising the operation of all equipment, including Die Cast Machines, Trim Presses, Laundry System, and Melting Furnace.
Analyzing, organizing, and planning production to meet customer needs.
Performing data entry via production reports on a daily basis.
Ensuring accurate and timely timekeeping.
Leading and participating in continuous improvement projects, Gemba walks, 6S audits, and layered process audits within the department.
Collaborating with other departments to resolve and improve production-related needs.
Documenting training events within the department and ensuring implementation.
Education/Experience:

The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, or three to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in HPDC (zinc, aluminum, and/or equivalent). High pressure aluminum die casting experience is preferred, but other types of die casting experience will be considered. Additional requirements include:

Three to five years of experience troubleshooting HPDC machinery.
Three to five years of experience in quality control within a die casting environment, with the ability to identify rejects and determine root causes to prevent recurrence.
Three to five years of experience using MRP/ERP software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
Experience reading and interpreting documents, writing routine reports and correspondence, and speaking effectively in front of groups.
Experience with mathematical concepts and practical problem-solving.
Physical Requirements:

Regularly stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear.
Ability to quickly move hands, hands together with arms, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
