Dialysis Nurse Manager need for dialysis center located in Glendale, NY

Salary: $145K range (based on experience)

Qualifications of the Dialysis Nurse Manager:

  • Must have Dialysis experience
  • Must be licensed RN in the State of New York
  • Must have at least a year experience in clinical nursing and 6 months experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis, including training in and experience with dialysis process
  • Ensure compliance with all procedures and policies
  • Maintain knowledge in the current practices related to the principles and techniques of dialysis by participating in all scheduled in-services
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Responsibilities of the Dialysis Nurse Manager:

  • Develops and implements standards of care in accordance with all ESRD Network, State, Federal regulations and facility requirements & Responsible for overseeing performance of all licensed personnel, direct patient care staff indirect personnel staff and technical staff when necessary
  • Rounds and assesses the delivery of patient care in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations & Encourages and maintains open communication between members of the IDT, Physicians and patients.
  • Conducts staff meeting on a regular basis & In the absence of an Administrator, acts as Administrator, & Is supervisory role in accordance with facility policies and procedures
  • Interviews, makes recommendations to Administrator for hiring of new employees
  • Makes supply recommendations and notifications of equipment needs to the Chief Technician and Administrator & Assumes primary dialysis nurse responsibilities and direct patient care when indicated.
  • Enforces and carries out (or delegates) patients care policies for the medical director.
  • Assists Administrator in assuring continuity of care and communication between dialysis facility and nursing home.
  • Understands basic wage and hour laws, federal, state and local laws and regulations, Medicare and legislation affecting employment in dialysis and nursing services.
  • Reports and documents all employee injuries according to established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for Preparing and submitting Data as required by CMS and ESRD network including but not limited to NHSN, NYPORTS/HCS, OSHA 300, IPRO vascular access report
  • Responsible for assuring an effective emergency preparedness plan is implemented and maintained
  • Practices and ensures compliance with New York State Health Code, Nurse Practice Act for Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and the Professional Code of Ethics.
  • Participates with the Administrator in establishing and implementing standards of practice, which ensure safe, effective and efficient nursing practice.
  • Assures that the facility's patient care staff is CPR certified.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with the Administrator, Medical Director and staff nurses regarding pertinent information and shift related issues affecting reasonable patient care and nursing function.
  • Maintains open communication with patients and/or designee
  • Accountable for outstanding customer service and interfacility relationships
  • Facilitates an open line of communication between nursing and Administration regarding incidents, problems and patient care situations via written and verbal reporting mechanism.
  • Maintains communications and collaborates with members of the Medical Staff, Renal Dietitian and Renal Social Worker in planning, providing and coordinating efforts for patient care on a daily basis.
