For more information, please visit the following link: Responsibilities POSITION DUTIES: Perform highly specialized diagnostic procedures utilizing advanced magnetic resonance imaging techniques. Receive patients, explain method of procedure and safety precautions, start IVs as required, position patients, and counsel patients regarding the risks/benefits of the procedure. Establish and oversee the maintenance of a quality control program in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Section. Responsible for all major and minor equipment held in the MRI Section. Train subordinates in performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis. Basic Requirement for Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Magnetic Resonance Imaging):Radiology Certification: Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75. Essentially, they must (1) have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and (2) be certified as radiographers in their field. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing diagnostic radiologic examinations, assisting with magnetic resonance imaging, and performing quality assurance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Diagnostic Radiology/Radiography. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
