Position Summary This is specialized clinical work performing and assisting with diagnostic medical ultrasound imaging. Breast imaging experience needed. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Education: Knowledge of ultrasound equipment, procedures, and techniques as well as anatomy and physiology at a level acquired through completion of an accredited ultrasound program. License/Certifications: ARDMS certification in at least one of these specialties; Abdomen, OB/GYN; BLS certified Experience: Demonstrates competence in Ultrasound imaging as obtained through clinical training as part of education in an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. 1 year experience as a sonographer in a hospital setting is preferred. Experience as a sonographer in a large academic/tertiary hospital is a plus. Proficiencies: Analytical ability to determine the best method to providing requested images based on the patient's physical state and pathology in accordance with established protocols. Interpersonal skills necessary to explaining ultrasound procedures to patients to allay apprehensions and elicit cooperation. Must communicate effectively with radiologist. Ability to perform and/or adapt to the changes associated with different work environments and different equipment. Demonstrates compliance with the following: Ultrasound ergonomics.
