Duties As a DETAILED INSPECTOR GENERAL, GS-1801-12, you will: Position serves as staff action officer and confidential representative within the State/Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ), Inspector General (IG) Office as required for all States and Territories. The purpose of this position is to report to the State/JFHQ IG on discipline, efficiency, morale, economy, training, and readiness of the State National Guard. Provides assistance to Soldiers, Airmen, and their family members on a wide range of issues and subjects Requirements Conditions of Employment Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Employee will be required to attend and successfully complete the Headquarters, Department of the Army Inspector General Course. Employee will be required to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance. Position requires travel to support National Guard units statewide. The NGB Inspector General must approve the selection and retention of the individual in the position. Qualifications NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full- time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised. Specialized Experience : 1 year specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) listed below. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training. Knowledge of organization/activity, NGB/DA/DAF/DOD, organizational structures, and their functional interrelationships. Knowledge of established management principles and operating procedures plus skill in applying fact-finding and investigative techniques to gather clear-cut factual evidence of waste and abuse, or compliance with regulations. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues/inspections or investigations/inquiries concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations (discipline, efficiency, morale, economy, training and readiness) carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions (i.e., internal activities or functions such as supply, budget, procurement, or personnel which serve to facilitate line or program operations). Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies, and precedents which affect the use of program and related support resources (people, money, or equipment) in the area studied. Knowledge of the major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the activity. Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of administrative and technical programs, along with knowledge of the mission, organization, and work processes of programs throughout a military command, complex multi-mission JFHQ (St), or equivalent, and the relationships of administrative support activities (e.g., data processing accounting, budget) to such missions. Knowledge in conducting inspections, inquires, investigations, analyzing findings, and making recommendations on substantive operating programs; (e.g., weapons testing or commodity management). Knowledge and skill in preparing project papers and staffs reports, organizing and delivering briefings to managers for understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations. Knowledge of managing an internal office budget.
