Position Summary :

The candidate will work coordinate the modeling, design, drafting, and Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and management for new and existing products and components. These components include both mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies. The candidate must be able to develop concepts and recommend design alternatives. Having the ability to prioritize work from multiple sources is a must. These sources include engineering, manufacturing, sales, and application engineering. The candidate must have familiarity with GD&T, have interest to further advance this skill and knowledge and be willing to take on the responsibility of developing and analyzing tolerance stacks. Experiences in engineering database management ensuring drawings/models comply with internal and industry standards is desirable. Competency in NX and familiarity with Team Center is desired as well.




Responsibilities

Responsibilities :

  1. Works with a Design or Application Engineer to develop new product lines.

1.1 Using input from Engineering, regarding important design features, develop conceptual designs into computer models and drawings, using the CAD system, which can be produced and tested as prototypes for new products.


1.2 Possess knowledge of current industry standards, including SAE, ANSI, DIN, ISO, QS, TS, and Horton. Has basic understanding of manufacturing techniques, including machining, sheet metal work, casting, die-casting and forging processes.


1.3 Works with design-team members to refine concepts for products, using input from the various sources, both internal and external to Horton, to identify and optimize potential design solutions.


  1. Using an approach similar to that used for development of new designs, develops improvements to the design of existing products.


2.1 Uses CAD software to maintain design documentation when ideas are developed for experimentation and to develop improvements to parts designs or to document changes.


2.1 Tests materials and concepts, working closely with the Test and Research staff to design tests and document results.


  1. Provides design related support to the sales function, assisting sales staff to respond to customer requests.

3.1 Develops special designs and makes modifications to standard designs to meet the needs of customers.


3.2 Communicates directly with the technical staff of customers to clarify requirements.


  1. Works with the Oracle business system.

Qualifications

Qualifications:


Requires a two year technical degree in drafting or design. CAD 3D modeling knowledge is required.

Must have legal authorization to work in the United States. Relocation allowance may be provided if the individual has all of the necessary qualifications.
