Job DetailsJob Summary
Designer / Drafter will work closely collaborating with engineers, designing components for the heavy truck industry; alternators and starters.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Working with engineers to design components for the heavy truck industry
- Responsible for all updates to drafting manuals ensuring latest drafting standards and practices are documented
- Responsible for providing customers with 3D models, 2D drawings and general technical information in a timely manner
- Responsible for layout and detail design of electromechanical rotating equipment using PTC Creo software PTC Windchill PLM
- Perform basic design tolerance calculations, create 3D models, detail components, compile bills of material and execute engineering change orders
- Design and detail fixturing assemblies and components for test lab equipment
- Assist in annual company physical audit
Required Skills and Abilities
- Must be a self-starter; ability to work independently, with little supervision
- Planning and organization skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Hands on team player who demonstrates the ability to interact at all levels of the business
- Ability to work within cross functional teams
Education and Experience
- AAS degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of adaptable experience in design/drafting necessary
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Project, and general computer systems,
- Proven working experience with Creo/Windchill required
- Proficient in using ANSI Y14.5M dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T)
