The role of Design Engineer involves overseeing all aspects of capital projects for Corrugated plants. The Engineer will coordinate the planning, organization, safe execution, and final acceptance of projects within budget and scope. Additionally, responsibilities include outlining project requirements, assigning tasks, and supervising progress to ensure project objectives are met. This individual will follow an established engineering process and develop project scopes. The successful candidate will efficiently execute projects that support operational throughput improvement, facility/process sustainability, and health and safety goals, based on assigned tasks. They will also contribute to safety excellence, environmental responsibility, and other relevant objectives, as needed. Additionally, technical guidance and assistance may be required at local facilities. Travel of up to 80% is anticipated, and proximity to a major airport is preferred.

Main Responsibilities:

Manage multiple aspects of capital projects, including planning, design, documentation, budgeting, and implementation.
Influence and guide others towards successful project outcomes, which is a significant requirement of the role. Diplomacy, approachability, and the ability to foster trust are crucial.
Analyze situations based on facts and swiftly provide guidance to individuals critical to the project or issue at hand.
Define problems, gather facts and data, and draw valid conclusions by seeking input from others, as necessary, to establish a clear direction.
Interpret various forms of technical information and handle multiple abstract and/or concrete variables concurrently.
Read, analyze, interpret, and summarize written materials and information. Write reports, business correspondence, and documents.
Coordinate and lead collaboration with external contractors, adapting project scopes as needed. Ensure projects remain within budget and adhere to scheduled timelines, while maintaining transparent investment forecasting.
Acquire knowledge of maintenance/plant operations. Provide recommendations for training, improved procedures, manpower requirements, and selection.
Create drawings, specifications, detailed project timelines, and instructions to effectively communicate project requirements to others.
Demonstrate commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and processes. Ensure strict compliance with process safety requirements. Conduct appropriate hazard analysis prior to project commencement and prioritize project safety throughout its duration.

Background:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred but not required.
At least 7 years of project management experience is necessary.
Prior experience in the corrugated industry would be advantageous.
Ability to travel extensively, up to 80%. Domestic and international travel may be required.
