Boeing Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems seeks a to serve as our Lead Avionics Design and Integration Engineer on our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) team in Seal Beach, CA. You will collaborate with mission-focused engineers, who specialize in hypersonic re-entry, spacecraft and aircraft, and autonomy. We work with business development teams and customers to rapidly prototype new ideas and deploy new designs and systems. You will focus on hardware development, integration, and testing for projects that involve cutting-edge analog, power, and digital circuit design. We deliver advanced capabilities swiftly and cost-effectively. Our portfolio includes groundbreaking platforms and technologies, such as the X-37B, the world's first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently completed its sixth and most ambitious mission. Position Responsibilities:
Work with customers to develop and document electronic and electrical system requirements. Test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational requirements and functional requirements. Develop and validate requirements for various complex sensor, electronic, and mechanical components. Define and conduct critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements.
Design digital circuits and analyze performance and parameters (e.g., throughput, rise time, clock frequencies, propagation delay) and utilizes hardware description languages (e.g., Hardware Description Language HDL , Verilog).
Computer component design: hardware and software components (e.g., processors, memory, interfaces, high order languages), and model results (e.g., throughput, processing architecture, timing, capacity).
Develop architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms.
Conduct trade studies, modeling, simulations, and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects, and system performance, and to optimize design around established requirements.
Manage aspects of critical supplier performance and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements.
Support product lifecycle, from manufacturing to customer, through guidance and involvement in issue resolution.
Support project management by coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule, and other inputs. Conduct appropriate reviews.
Proposal writing of major sections of RFPs and RFQs.
In order to meet security standards and protocols, all work is performed onsite in Seal Beach, CA. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time, domestically depending on business needs. To be considered for this position, you must have a currently possess an active Top Secret or Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) US Security Clearance, or have completed a Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the past 5 years. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor degree or higher in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry.
1+ years of experience with digital circuits, analog circuits, computers, microprocessors, network systems, and high frequency circuitry.
Experience in a role that required strong writing and speaking skills. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
1+ years of experience working with electromagnetic field, circuit theory, or wave propagation.
1+ years of experience developing innovative analog, power or digital circuit design principles (e.g., frequency, voltage, thermal, bandwidth, mismatch).
1+ years of experience in support of electrical power systems (electrical system design, electrical system verification, troubleshooting, or support of anomaly resolution).
1+ years of experience reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and specifications.
Expertise in electronic system design and an understanding of system materials and processes. The ability to integrate systems design with other disciplines such as structures, propulsion, and antennas.
Proficiency in directing design and optimization, and performing electromagnetic analysis and modeling.
Ability to design, simulate, and layout circuit boards. Perform schematic development and board lay-out.
Experience in circuit design for motor controls, circuit design for power management, electronic system design.
Experience with worse case circuit analysis.
Experience with circuit design for prompt radiation events to prevent latch up. Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Lead (level 4)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior (level 5)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master years' related work experience). This position is for 1st shift but may require occasional compensated ad hoc support after hours. This position is for 1st shift. This worksite participates in Boeing's optional 9/80 schedule rotation in which you may elect to work 9-hour shifts, 8 days per pay period (bi-weekly) and receive every other Friday off.
