The Deputy Director of Nursing (DDON) is a Registered Nurse (RN) who is a licensed health care provider who reports to the Direct of Nursing (DON) and assists with day-to-day operations. The DDON will work with all medical personnel assigned to multiple clinical care settings. The DDON is responsible for assisting the DON, who supervises and guides all medical personnel within clinical care settings. The DDON will assist to ensure that all medical personnel will provide health care to examinees within the clinical care centers in accordance with State and Federal guidance and regulations. The DDON is responsible for assisting to promote best practice through medical staff development and education ensuring optimal examinee outcomes in accordance with practice guidelines and clinical policies and procedures. Helps to develop educational programs for all medical personnel, ensuring competencies are completed and oversight of all new medical personnel on the job orientation program. In the absence of the DON, the DDON supervises medical staff in the clinical settings to ensure quality care is rendered to all examinees. Maintains compliance with program standards and regulations. Collaborates with departmental leaders to ensure cohesiveness with the medical department. Responsible for several activities related to the delivery of medical care, and clinical services such as cost management, utilization review, quality assurance, and medical process development. Oversees the activities of the medical personnel, including assessments, interventions, and documentation. All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity is recognized. Attributes and Professional Qualities: Strong oral and written communication skills in English and preferably Spanish Excellent interpersonal skills Critical thinking skills This position is notional and contingent upon contract award QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate from accredited Nursing school Bachelor's degree in nursing required Master's degree in nursing or related field strongly preferred Unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of service or Compact License Fluent in English and preferably in Spanish (speak, read, and write) Ability to explain treatments and conditions to examinees in a manner and language in which they understand A willingness to work a flexible schedule and fill in when needed is strongly preferred. Five years of clinical experience Clinical experience with occupational medicine preferred One year of management experience as charge nurse, clinical care manager/supervisor, administrative supervisor, or direct management One year of experience as a Deputy or Assistant Director of Nursing strongly preferred Have and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) Broad knowledge of legal regulations and best practices in healthcare Willingness to keep abreast of changing standards in nursing administration Excellent ability to lead and develop personnel Excellent communication and people skills Outstanding organizational and stress management skills Aptitude in problem-solving Clean criminal background check DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform and/or provide direction and support for the following services: Directs, oversees, and evaluates all medical personnel clinically Assist in developing, monitoring, and evaluating medical personnel policies and procedures Collaborate with inter/intra departmental personnel within the clinical care setting to enhance and to streamline medical operations Assists with the managing of daily medical operations and prioritizing tasks as needed. Organize and coordinate on the job training program Set objectives and long-term goals for the clinical care setting Accurate documentation in the medical record Develop and enforce policies aiming for legal compliance and high quality standards Shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic Microsoft 360 Office Suites and have used an electronic medical record system. Utilizes Acuity computer to access e-mail, electronic documentation, and other job specific requirements. Manages and provides guidance and direction to charge personnel to include interviewing, work allocation, orientation, training, staff development, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and leadership development. Serves as a resource for the medical staff by teaching and evaluating duties. Control budgets and monitor expenditures Complies with all applicable Acuity standards and guidelines. Assures quality of examinee care by educating medical staff on therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations. Educates medical staff on maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations Protects examinees and employees by educating them on the importance of infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures. Manage record-keeping procedures Ensures the examinee's health care status remains confidential. Conducts, attends, and participates in a variety of meetings to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements. Complies with all applicable Acuity standards and contractual guidelines. Other duties as assigned OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Performs duties in a safe manner. Follows the corporate safety policy. Participates and supports safety meetings, training, and goals. Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility. Maintains a clean and orderly work area. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
