Job Description Provides strategic and tactical direction for the County's Facilities efforts; planning for the future of the department and aligning department plans with the Board of County Commissioners and County Managers Office goals; implements the strategic directives, leading the evolution to enterprise wide services across the department in maintenance, custodial services, grounds, captial planning and projects, fleet services, warehouse and printing; improves the effectiveness of department operations; as well as stays abreast of industry trends and challenges faced by our County internal departments; incorporates business process strategies both in the continuous improvement of department operations and in implementing facilities needs throughout the County. Provides oversight of the coordination with Departments/Agencies to provide fleet maintenance, building maintenance and facility operations activities: provides overall technical guidance and direction to facilitate and assist the site(s) in meeting the Facility Department's mission; organizes and directs a variety of programs, projects, and activites related to fleet maintenance, building maintenance, and facility operations functions of buildings and programs to provide a safe environment for County employees and the Public. Provides oversight of all department operations in the Director's absence, requiring in-depth understanding of department responsibilities, risks, and liabilities as well as the ability, in consultation with the Leadership Team, to quickly and accurately communicate status and recommendations during county incidents; actively participates as a recognized leader within the organization by supporting initiatives, challenging, and recommending improvements in business objectives, relative to area of expertise that will advance the interests of the department and the organization. Leads efforts with Departments/Agencies to create and/or update memorendum of understandings (MOU) and service level agreements (SLA) to meet the needs and goals of all Departments/Agencies involved. Creates, monitors, and refines department performance measures, assures quality and consistency in department correspondence of variance processes, briefing sheets, Commission and Manager's Office communications; coordinates business continuity plans; and in conjuction with the Leadership Team, fosters ever improving employee engagement. Job Requirements Sixteen (16) to twenty (20) years of progressively more responsible relevant experience, preferably in the public sector or other relevant experience; Five (5) years supervisory experience, required. Two (2) years of experience in departmental budget related duties. A professional certification in a facility management related field preferred. Education may be substituted for experience. High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Facilities Management, Business, Finance, Accounting, Architucture, Public Administration or relevant field, preferred. Experience may be substituted for degree.
